I learned more about reed valves in 4 minutes from you than I've been able to learn in the last 4 weeks, you have a real good way of explaining things.
I took your advice and made my own windowed piston with a reed valve bought from Amazon, and it worked out great. Now I have plenty of bottom end torque, and don't have to use much throttle anymore. Now I just need a dirt bike ignition coil to burn that extra fuel being pushed into the cylinder head, thanks for your video, it saved me some money.
Hell yeah this helped a lot cause I have a 80cc stage 4 reed valve kit and a 24mm carb and it don’t run right at all jetting seemed to help but not much so this video just unlocked a whole new thought and project
Well I have reed valve on mine with a PWK 24 with adjustable power jet valve. I don't have a window piston but I do cutted the bottom of the piston matching full open at TDC, it works fine 67kms / hour but I will do a window on in the piston ... Good video buddy !
u dont need a window in the piston. i know u want to do it to test it out. so just do smaller one bcuz a bigger one would make it run horrible. ... I would recommend ordering a new piston anyways, and just lighten it up by drilling holes on the outside of the intake hole. i wouldn't touch the skirt no need to. if you go on heavily modified motorbikes facebook you will see different pistons.

window piston with reed valve is for something if you plan on having high rpms but the stock piston or shall i say lighten piston with no window and a third transfer port from the cylinder will have great low end
you can get a high high compression head or three spark plug head combian with boost bottle behide it if the any gas still getting out but that experimentle plus i wonder you use two calibrators on it one guy did on youtube go more power

If a third transfer port is added to the cylinder will the piston wear out faster? The area of the cylinder below the intake port is where the piston skirt rides to stay straight in the bore. With a 3rd transfer port added there is less surface area for the piston skirt to slide against so it may wear out faster and score the piston. Have you found this to be a problem?
I have a question, ive been havin all kinda problems tuning my engine and thought it was carb problems but now thinking its a other problem, its a reedcase engine and has the 4th and 5th ports or 3rd port what ever its called but my piston doesnt have any windows on it, i can rev the engine to about 75% throttle but just sputters after that like as if the carb was too rich, do you know if the piston needs windows? Cuz im thinkn of dremel'n the piston hoping this will fix the prob, thanks.

Ramadan Stromer no, and u can put ur other head on, also make sure ur piston is facing the right way also make sure piston clips is in correctly, also take the head off and make sure there are no aluminum shavings inside the motor

If it has a third transfer then you can use a stock piston with the reed valve and if you want to ise a wi dow piston you must have a reed valve

A windowed Piston and third transfer booth req a reed valve neither one will work with out a reed valve

Dont drill any lighting holes on the exhaust side of the piston. The compression will leak thru the exhaust port and wont run.
