I do love me some red velvet cake. Your cake came out so well and delicious looking. With that being said, You and Shan should check out some of the really old fashioned recipes that call for red beets in the red velvet cake. That’s how they used to make it before the advent of red food coloring. The beets also add a natural sweetness and flavor to the cake batter other than just the color. @@cornbreadfedkirkpatrick9647 it was years ago at Cameron university- we did it in a cabin in the wildlife refuge - we made beer bread - cherry cobbler etc - i learned so much about rotating them and stacking etc I never that they where so versatile lol

I married into a family that makes red velvet cake and I'm one of the few that still makes it. I only use butter, no Crisco, but this is THE BEST frosting recipe! It is GREAT for making decorations that hold their shape!! This video brought me so much joy!! 💛💛💛💛
I'm going to be honest, if I ever was on a camping trip, and some area of land was named the "Red Velvet Cake Trail" I would be so overjoyed about it. Because one, Mr. Kent's recipes are always delicious, and two it's a name that doesn't sound like you're in danger as soon as you leave the house.

Mr. Kent, if you'd remember (as I had to) to whisk with the wrist instead of the shoulder or elbow, there's going to be less bursitis and rheumatism to suffer in the morning... 😉
My grandmother used to make cakes like that on the farm, the shortening helped it "stand up" in the non-refrigerated atmosphere of the times (of course, Canadian summers were a little more tolerable). 😀

Two things I keep in the kitchen, bacon grease, and LARD!!! Old timers ate everything cooked in lard and still lived healthy and strong, cause they ate the food then went outside and worked in the fields for 16 hours. Loved the video!
