There are SOME tools that allow you to cheese, like the umbrella used in this video, but they cannot be relied upon. For the most part, the game demands understanding and mastery of the core mechanics which the entire combat system is built around. And Genchiro is the skill check: you WILL learn how to parry, you WILL learn the rhythm of the boss fight, or you will not progress the game. There's no grinding to level up, there's no sprinting through a dungeon to get a magic item that gives you a spell you can spam, there's not even summons to bring in other players to help you win. There is only your own skill, and the grindstone that you must sharpen it against. Watching Sekiro footage from a player who has mastered the game is like watching a dance. There's a rhythm to the flow of combat that is absolutely beautiful, and once you see it you can also see yourself learning it.
@@sara-hc7wb its not about chip damage. if you're still struggling in sekiro, my best tip is to play aggressive. Works best if you've already learned their moves but it can also help learning their moves. Just keep attacking them until they parry or use a red attack and counter them then continue attacking. Wouldn't have learned this tip without giving up on defense and just brute forcing the bosses.

Honestly, this is mostly how the game was designed to be played. Just don't lean so much on parrying. It is greatly rewarded, but it is extremely impractical to focus towards. Try to be realistic and block. Allow your posture to break at the right moment.
@sekirostern Blocking is the primary go-to mechanic in Sekiro. For example, the corrupted monk in the underground will not punish you for breaking your posture. He will literally stop mid combo if your posture breaks. Another good one is slow opponents like the knight on the bridge to the monks. You can block, have your posture broken, and still have plenty of recover time to dodge his next attack. Having your posture broken is about timing. You can die countless times trying to parry everything. Knowing when to allow your posture to break is much more successful. Hell, I beat the game in under 30 hours and 50% of the games bosses on my first attempt. Only when you reach the white ape does the games difficulty actually take off the training wheels.
