    you could have dryer particles or some type of debri from the first TXV trapped in the coils.. maybe blow the coils out with some nitrogen while you have the system open on the next TXV change out. I wouldn't use line set flush it will get trapped in the coils. I believe the flush instuction say do not flush with coils attached. I only say that because the last company I worked for had major leaks on a LG multi head system with branch boxes on a new install. instead of fixing the leaks they put a ton of leak seal in. then they found out LG was coming out to look at the system so they tryed to flush the leak seal out. I've never seen dark grey vacuum pump oil before. the branch boxes trapped the flush and pretty much ruin that 150,000 dollar system.
    I felt so bad for the customer he was getting screwed.

    On rare occasion, wax polymers formulate from the compressor oil and clog the TXV. A light torching of the TXV with low heat (i.e. propane torch, NOT oxy) can melt the wax and dislodge the TXV allowing the foreign particles to circulate and get captured by the dryer. Permanent fix would still be required - replacing TXV with evac/refill of refrigerant. If light torching temporarily fixes the problem, then it justifies an aggressive nitrogen purge to clear coil/lines from existing foreign substances (i.e. wax) as much as possible during repair. If heat doesn't fix the problem - it points more to being just a "bad" TXV without other foreign substances being the root cause.

  • @DavidKing-vb9ux
    @DavidKing-vb9ux 10 днів тому +12

    If you do not need to return the warranty TXV the smart move would be cut it open and see in the needle/seat is contaminated with system debris. If it’s not and appears clean, likely a loss of bulb charge, that could be a manufacturer defect or an installation/vibration root cause. The last thing I would ever do is to replace a TXV with a fixed orifice. That style of metering control has extremely limited operation ranges. Any real load condition changes outside the narrow range will create compressor reliability concerns. TXVs while troublesome offer a much greater range of control and compressor protection.

They say, "If it has wires sticking out of it, get the new one from the dealer." That is because the generic ones usually made in China, often fail after a year or so, if they even work at all.

    The desiccant inside a previous dryer may have "let go" and contaminated the 410A with fine particulates. It's happened with automotive AC, notably with 2010-2012 Ford Escapes. I think your plan is good, replace the TXV and filter/dryer again and go with virgin 410A. Other techs really like the Sporlan Catch-All for these tough situations, might be worth it here.

    About 10 years ago, Copeland compressors had a problem with a manufacturing oil that caused TXV’s to clog. It was mostly for four ton in below, and the problem showed up within months of the equipment being installed new.
    .
    The solution was to add 4 ounces of nu Calgon renew product. But the system has to be running for the new Calgon to work. It takes several days to clean out the TXV with the system running., with some results being seen within a few hours of the compressor running

I always cut o7t the drier and bad pa4ts because when you heat up the drier it releases the contaminated in the drier danfoss expansion valves loose the po2er head charge easily seem like if you look at it wrong or let your heat off your torch flame get pointed towards it ,stainless doesn't rust but is more brittle than copper we had high failure rate on danfoss valves a couple times and I always have put sporlan valves in .let us know what value failure is when you diagnosis it

    Good Video ! First You have to Find out if the Txv -
    1. Lost its Power head Charge - if so - it's a Easy Fix. Replace Txv & Drier. wire tie capillary to itself to help deter cracking & loss of bulb charge. look for a Rub out on capillary.
    2. is Plugged with Debris / Plugged solid. if this is the case - You Must Try to determine what is in it. Cut open txv / disassemble txv & do a autopsie. Most Likely it's Compressor oil or the Compressor Windings coming apart. Whenever i Have a plugged Metering device on anything 5 Tons or Smaller. i Just replace the Compressor , Flush the System & Do a complete Cleanup or Sometimes its Wiser to Just Replace the Unit & is Usually Smarter & is Better than Dumping Good Money into a Old Piece of Junk. if its around 10 years old or Older Replacing the Unit is The Best Move for all involved.

Go back out there. it’s closed again after a week. I put on a new TXV and dryer, it worked for a week. I told him we needed evaporator, but I couldn’t get one and he needed to get somebody else. They put a new evaporator in it and quit doing it. I thought I going insane. And just like you I changed the Freon. I did everything. I'm going to give you some advice that might save your life or at least keep you out of the ER. When climbing a ladder ALWAYS have a three point hold on the ladder, that is to say at least three parts of your body feet or hands should be on the rungs, never carry a tool bag while climbing. To climb properly and safely buy some 3/8" nylon rope, cut it to 10' longer than the maximum height of your ladder or ladders and install a latch-hook on the lower end. When you go to climb loop the latch end to what ever you wish to take up then take the plain end and loop it through the rear of your belt, leave about a foot of it below your belt, do not tie it off to your belt. Once you are safely on the roof remove the rope from your belt and tie it off to your ladder, then pull up what ever you need to the roof. If you need more equipment on the roof drop the line back down climb down and latch the equipment to be pulled up. Always keep your hands free to ALWAYS climb with a three point hold, your life depends on staying safe while climbing aloft. Always remember, "No job is so important and no service is so urgent-that we cannot take time to perform our work safely"

    Not very helpful advice here for you, we have a back room unit at one of our stores that I changed the txv on probably 5 or 6 times, I also pulled the compressor out and dumped and refilled the oil at one point because I suspected something was contaminating it. The oil seemed to help a bit but it still has issues occasionally, years later

    The the screen could be clogged for txv. Seen that a couple times and the txv was not the problem. It was restricted in the screen. Blow the heck out of it with nitro both ways when you remove the txv.

    Could the compressor be failing and putting debris in the system

  • @RayRay-nb7tn
    @RayRay-nb7tn 10 днів тому +11

    I'm sure when you changed the 1st txv you blew Nitrogen thru the entire system to clear the system. Maybe over time debris got loose and found the txv. Most manufacturers won't warranty a unit put in a hair or nail salon due to the chemical compounds they use. If heat pump evap coil will not be covered. Been there done that. It could be product broke or malfunctioned.
