If the water heater is on the same circuit as a final ring main the venue needs rewired. :/ once was at a venue where there were uncoved socket boxes everywhere and exposed terminals. also the lighting desk tingled a bit like it was live. im not even making this up. it was owned by the council and the lighting system was all bulgen which says alot. not even sure RCDs were invented when this place was wired otherwise that desk would have tripped everything
Why does everyone use expensive dmx cables?? i use the cheapest xlr cables available (Devine) with a rig of 16 fixtures and ive never experienced any problems in all the time im using them!
It's true that you can use regular XLR cables probably for most standard gigs. 16 fixtures is not a whole lot to be concerned about proper cabling. However it is good practice to use proper DMX cabling anyways because DMX cables have more shielding and a higher impedance rating to prevent interference. Unlike audio you are sending data, not a simple signal. In larger rigs you have more of a chance to see signal interference using regular audio XLR cables. When you start dealing with 50+ fixture rigs believe me you'll see some problems.
***** I can understand that even though the cables are cheap the build quality (at least from the outside) isnt cheap, just like any other probac xlr or something
So DMX is double shielded, which has even less feedback then an XLR cable can. That means that unless you have a coil of DMX cable on a child of 32A cable you will basically have no issues with the interference. Also, DMX can send RDM data (Where the light communicates with the controller) which you defiantly need the shielding and different resistance of DMX cable.
you can find the phone stand at poundland btw to save a bit of money
Fantastic Joe. Love your ideas. A BIG thank you.
Really enjoying these videos. I'm definitely adding a Behringer 302 to my bag, great recommendation.
Great video series. The one thing I can't do without on gigs is my leatherman surge.
great video Joe... I have been a sub for a long time and I love you videos... keep it up lad
Nice useful video as usual Joe.

You should include things like a back up speaker e.g. A portable speaker
If you use active speakers, you always have a spare ;)
+RCD Events Forgot he had active speakers
just buy a good monitor, if schit hits the fan, u can yous it as FOH, if u dont have a big pa set up
Simple company cards to give to clients
include a dmx tester this is always important!
are you growing a beard? Great video!
Been searching for a soft case for multiple hard drives (like a 4-in-1 thing) but no dice. Anyone seen anything like it?
Iec distribution board
Ive found some cheaper solutions to these over the years granted serato pyro is by no means DJ software, it does mix well enough and is free.
A surge protector
Dmx splitter
