Oregon Trail II longplay, Independence to Oregon
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 бер 2020
- Played in DOSBox with on Windows 3.1, with Quicktime working properly so the map video clips and river crossing videos play. Trying to play Oregon Trail II on anything older than Windows 9x can cause the videos to not play even if the game runs.

i played this in computer class in grade school when i was like 5... named all of my fellow travelers after my classmates sitting next to me and we all laughed when we died from dysentery or diarrhea
SAME! Except for us, it would've always been rattlesnake bites for some reason
Fun watch here in 2024, I remember playing this game in the 1990's as a child. learned a lot from the game.
The joy of the mouse cursor dancing at the 1 hour mark made me smile... :)
Because the soundtrack is fire 🔥
Ha ha, I came here to say the same
The music in this game is just so good. You can tell MECC put a lot of effort into this game.
Oh my god me too 😭😭 it’s so cute and charming
lol i do that all the time when im playing a good game
Ah, the memories. :) I liked how the game had some obviously bad suggestions for illness and such, like rubbing salt into a wound, rubbing snow on frostbite, get lots of exercise with a concussion, and so on. You know you did it at least once. XD And the hill music creeped me out when I was a kid.
what i miss in the recent oregon trail game is the voiceovers and the EXCELLENT music
love the dude who just has his guitar on him at all times
MAN this game is so old. 1995? I was BORN that year.
I am as old as the Oregon trail. Dang.
Man this brings back memories. Anyone else sometimes name your party with people you didn’t like from school and if they got sick you just kept going? 😂😂
I took alllllll my crushes 😂
O yeah, but the problem was by the time you got everything ready to hit the trail class would be over
i used my family and when they got sick or died I got sad for real
I always started the game loading up on all of the supplies I needed. I did this through vendors and trading. My goal was to start the journey with the same amount of default money I began with in addition to all of my supplies. I thought that was a blast. Great game overall.
Thank you for making this video! Me and my brother will play this all the time. And the axles always break!
Oh nostalgia! ❤😍🥰 I remember playing this game for hours when I was a kid! I’ll never forget the music and the dialogue. The only thing that kinda sucked was that the rabbits were hard to shoot because they were so fast, lol.
40:43 “You found: 1 fiddle.”
Hits me right in the feels.
Accompanied by the Beatles and their legendary producer, nice work.
I just had this video playing in the background while working on stuff and my mind immediately jumped to Resident Evil 7 at 29:03. I'm sure it's a popular tune that I'm just not familiar with but this is the melody for the song 'Go Tell Aunt Rhody' from RE7! Haha! How cool!
Brings back memories.
2:54 This was enough to made me laugh like a mad man! XD
Howhowhowhowhowdy!
An impromptu remix of the town theme.
Way to leave and experience winter in its entirety, ya dingus!
Scared of getting Donnered
this game is very aestethical.... vaporwave touch! for anyone looking for similar games, first one that comes to my mind are tex murphy killing moon, the violents phantasmagoria, harvester, comedic town with no name (no FMV but desert theme) etc
Heck yes, all the Tex Murphy games are great. They have a genuine charm because the devs clearly loved doing it
With the pre-rendered backgrounds and MIDI sound fonts used, it sits in a 1st gen PSX aesthetic.
1:33 - 25:49 And now, that town theme will be stuck in my head for a very long time.
Courtesy time stamps for others.
My first pc game as a kid!
One thing to note, "See who's around" yield unique dialogue for some places.
I never understood what half the supplies would do for you.
Some of them increase the likelihood that you can get through some events
I would have NEVER have thought to abuse trading prior to starting the journey
It only works well at the very start of the game. Out on the trail the trading gets insanely difficult, like if you want for a sack of salt someone will ask for 200 lbs of meat or something crazy.
@@ken131If you think about it, on the trail a sack of salt could be worth as much as 200lbs of meat due to how essential it is to preserve said meat.
Did you ever meet “Badger Keeper”? He was me and my sister’s favorite character 😂
I remember him. Had a kid's body, but a very adult voice. XD
1:00:03 the mouse do jammin
Hear from RoyalPear’s stream
When you use save state when someone died in the game.
You didn't buy enough laudanum or whiskey at the beginning. Your party is not going to have much fun 🤣
Laudanum...good old fashioned opium!
good game
RIP CYBERMOSES
I spent all my money on candy
Heh, the OTII strategy guide book I have says that candy makes your party happy (boosts morale) at least.
@@ken131 oh they're all dead from cholera. but they died with a smile on their faces I think.
@@thedarkerknight2188Doesn’t matter, had candy.
One time my party lived on bacon, whiskey, and beans. It didn't go too well. XD
@@shadowstarz3651 I bet that play though had an explosive ending.
Oregon trail mclennon
😅😅🤣🤣
STOP SEEING WHOS AROUND OMG 💀
I'm looking for new people. They randomly appear in certain places and years. There are probably a lot of conversations that even I have never had because you have to meet them under specific circumstances. It's impressive that MECC put in this much detail, but it's a little tedious finding it all.
All the trading, I was having a hard time keeping track of what you were buying and what you were trading. Were you buying things from the stores to trade for better goods on the street? Like 3 oxen for 1 mule, ox were $11 each from the store, and you traded for 1 mule- that costs $40 at the store. Do you get a better trade value if you buy stuff from the stores and take them to the street?
Yeah, doing transaction over transaction sometimes I mess up, but the idea is to memorize what they cost in stores and then always trade for a higher value.
Some people say that this is an exploit. But I envision my character walking around town just buying and selling animals all day, ripping people off. Times were tough!
@@ken131 Juliet is going around Independence, MO saying:
“Have I got a deal for you, step right up!”
Leaves in the dead of winter, then barters for a native guide to cross a tricky river for 1 winter coat in spring and another coat for 90lbs of bacon in summer.
Very high merch and speechcraft stats, obviously.
Alas, Juliet the bacon baron is not a skilled raftsperson. Not sure how you can rest for a day while floating up the Columbia River without having to save their journal.
As a kid this was a blast. Idk how because this was the dumbest game. 😂😂😂
It's actually a great game. Not dumb at all.
You sold two oxen for 16 dollars to then buy two oxen for 30 dollars
When I'm going too fast I can slip up :/
@@ken131When recording gameplay, I understand that can make you slip. No save states for this game to fall back on.
