- Tech video from A&J Cycles: Bobber air box removal and pod filter install. We use K&N or Sprint Filters and also the Viba Harness Cover. All parts available at Ajcyclesny.com
Thanks for the video, used the technique to do an airbox delete on my Triumph bobber then fitted on cone filters. Found removing the plastic housing connected to the throttle body very awkward due to the position and tightness of the bolts, was able to find an allan key bit which fitted on a wratchet wrench and used that which did the trick.
how did you find the airbox delete affected the performance of the bike?
or was it more of an aesthetic change?
Going to attempt installing mine tomorrow. May call you guys for guidance 😂
The Sprint Cones look REALLY good when I did my Speedmaster. However, with those you really do need to remove that bracket he left on in this video. It's not too bad to get off, you need to remove the throttle bodies from the engine (2 hose clamps), drop them down and to the left about 3 inches to get one of the bolts out.
Will this require an ECU update or pose any performance issues? Heard lots of different opinions.
Bump
Great video I’m only having a hard time finding the actual air filters I’ve been to a few different stores where is a good spot to order the small air filter and then the two carburetor air filters
We have a variety of options in the US at ajcyclesny.com
@@aandjcycles what do you do with the other breather hose coming from the top end?!? You just pull it off the air box then never mention it again in the video??? Kind of frustrating. Please get back to me
@@jessekalahar417 that’s new on 2022 models. Will need to T in to a single uni, do an air injection delete or use two uni filters
@@aandjcycles Thankyou so much!! Makes much more sense. Sorry for my ignorance. I bought the Baak pod filters. My first big mod on the bobber. Is there anything else I should be doing to prevent damage?
@@aandjcycles because other then buying the filter kit she’s a stock bobber. Is there any tuning that’s needed??
What do you do with the hose coming from the Gas Tank?
Dude I’m currently doing this to my bike and ma stuck because he didn’t mention what to do w/ the hose coming from the tank.🤯😤😤
What did you guys end up doing with the breather hose going up under the tank?
I wish it would be legal in Germany to put this air filter on.
The technical officials in DE are super strict! No chance my Bobber will ever look that cool....it's a pain!
hey! I have a ssr xf250 dualsport and I wanted to mod it completely. I first wanted to replace the airbox with a pod filter because I only use it for road and wanted a supermoto. I have no idea how to do it but I'll learn, do you recommend it for me?
Nice Job Brian!
Is the Viba cover only necessary when removing the stock covers? I'm assuming the wiring and plugs would be fine with the stock covers.
weenermeat this video is for removing the air box, one you do, the stock covers can no longer be used
Before and after power, torque & mpg figures would of been handy. I suspect worse in all cases after this mod or do you find otherwise?
Haven’t dyno’d a bobber back to back but we have on the T120 which is same motor. Slight loss and power below 2000RPM and 4-5 horsepower across the board above that. Email is if you want to see the graph.
I never understod what the small red filter was for.
Great job Brian! I have a Thruxton R and have tried the pod screens and K&Ns while leaving stock air box in place. Have you come up with a clean way to remove the stock air box for the Thruxton R and get some nice size pod filters in there? On the our dyno the small K&Ns suffer except at the very top end. Let me know going out to the drag strip in October and back out to Bonneville Salt Flats in 2019. I did follow your advice and installed a power commander 5 and X pipe. If I can get a nice air box removal kit I can take back to dyno for additional tweaking. Thanks
Jerry Adams we have some new sprint filters that flow plenty on the thruxtons. The issue on the Thruxtons is the frame prevents any longer pod filters. The Bobbers don’t have clearance issues with the frame so the filters we run are much bigger then the Thruxton ones.
@@aandjcycles - Brian can you compare the K&N RU-2700 pod filters to the Sprint filters- air flow and size? What mods to the bike are required by the Sprint filters? Will side covers fit? I had to trim the side covers a little for the RU-2700s, and lost a little power to stock until 90 mph then picked up a couple hp from 90 mph and on.
The cone shape filters look better and more retro.
Hi!Good work!
The old air filter side panels won't fit?
Correct, with the RU-2560 K&N you can leave air box and side covers in place
@@aandjcyclesThank you sir!
Hi I just purchased some of your k&n short filters for my T120. Will have to go through this process as well to install? Thanks
Pierre Francois much easier on T120, check out our other video or the T120.
A&J Cycles New York ok thanks 👍🏼
What is the air filter connection diameter in cm?
Is there any loss or gain of MPG/Fuel range with the kit?
Is there a similar way to remove the air box from a thruxton r 1200 (2016)? Do you have a link to a video and a parts list?
Im interested at those rear turn signals? Do they work as break light also? What parts do i need to do that conversion?
The are the X-arc from high-tech speed. They are run brake and turn signals. We had some quality issues with them and no longer carry them. We do offer RIZOMA club S and I ride S that are similar along with a few kellerman options.
Thanks for vid Brian
Can I purchase the k&n filter kit for my 18 bobber direct from you to the uk 🇬🇧 Guy, would the sprint kit be best has bike be used in the wet weather cheers Paul
Would recommend the sprint filters, we have them on our website ajcyclesny.com and ship to UK daily. Thanks
If you run it with the short K&N filters and keep the stock air box, do you have to cap it off? Does it matter if it's open?
weenermeat does not matter, just leave open
@@aandjcycles Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I'll be ordering from you guys soon.
I had put an exhaust on how to do the air cleaner I need to do anything to the engine
Can just install
Dang, now I need Viba cover..... :’(
HI, How can i use Boosterplug with Pod Filter? There is an extra plug here
Yes it plugs Inline with the connector I mention in the video
@@aandjcycles Bobber to Boosterplug,Then boosterplug to connector?Where can i buy the connector?thanks
@@aandjcycles In video 6:50,Where did that pipe go?Doesn't that pipe need K&N?
Great video! What UNI breather filter did you use? Thanks

Do you sell the rear chopped rear fender for the bobber black and post to the uk? Thanks
These are chopped and repainted stock fenders, we don’t have any available right now.
What is the carburetor throat diameter in mm?please
