    I have the lofi-12 and I am blown away by how deep and fun it is on such a low entry price. It is the complete opposite of the Model:Samples for Elektron that cannot even sample and has received 0 updates over 4 years. Lofi-12 got even better with the resampling feature allowing you to do stuff like Making a beat, adding effect, resampling the beat and basically "steal" voices for more complex song writing... The only thing I would agree on is it feels "cheap" to the touch, almost like a toy, very plastic-ey... but I think this is going to become a classic.

      I've done whole gigs with just the Model Samples so I'm pretty fond of it but it's a different beast for sure. I wish Sonicware had some kind of sample utility like Elektron and Novation have.

      I totally agree with what you wrote. The workflow is fun, the sound is great and the whole experience inspires creativity and happy accidents. I call it the anti-Octatrack as it’s the polar opposite of that particular box. The LoFi is of course very cheaply built but that just adds to the charm. At its current price I’m considering buying a second unit because I can see these becoming highly sort after in time.

    Great to see another video from you! The whole-bar step option on the Lofi-12 I've actually found myself using on my attempt at a synthwave type track. It had steady drums, a driving bassline, an arpeggiating synth and on top of that a mellow higher sounding more bell like sample. That one played just one note per bar, almost like a bass would, but higher. Made for some good variety and allowed the pattern to be very long that way! I was surprised at its usefulness, changing the note length in general opens up interesting possibilities.

    all three machines seem great. thanks for the comparison. have you compared the lofi12 to some older samplers with 12bit modes, or 12bit sampling? like the 303, or the 202, or the st224. maybe a demo of classic pitch down to get that grit and ring. would love to see a shootout video. cheers!

    Fatboy Slim once said, "Everybody needs a TB-303," yeah, true but I'd love to rephrase this…"Everyone needs a PO-33"...this little device is so versatile and makes it so easy to create beats on the go...it's crazy🤯 Seriously, it's taken my beat-making to a whole new level...and man, creating kits for the PO-33 is a blast🤘😁🤘

    For ease of use, especially live improv, and just being simple, and not standalone, which one would you guys recommend. The Rhythm or the Lofi 12 ?

    Can you sync the midi clock bpm with the SPO?

    • @MattGreerMusic
      @MattGreerMusic  Рік тому +1

      The PO can't accept midi directly but you can bridge the gap with any gear that has both midi clock AND that same type of analog sync/click the the PO uses. Korg Volcas, Novation Circuit or Liven boxes can do that.

    Spo what if you speed the track up when sampling in you will get more of the song then slow pitch on the playback

    • @MattGreerMusic
      @MattGreerMusic  Рік тому

      Absolutely. You can leverage that trick on the PO-33 as well as on the LF-12. You'll get digital aliasing from the pitch shift but it might be an effect you like.

      I used to have one of those back in the day. Totally forgot those sampled. Pretty cool keyboard though.
      Talking about lofi and short sampling time I've got a Casio SK1. That thing is super gritty.

      @@MattGreerMusic yeah there pretty good romplers I like how they got 6 tracks to record on real time recording it's dope but the step sequencer is really complex to use and it doesn't loop so need to program all notes in by hand it sucks ..yeah the casio sk1 was a pretty popular keyboard back in the day I'm always seeing people on UA-cam using them in there set up for that authentic lofi feel ....

I want to get back into making music, i love sampling with the sk1 back in those days although it is so limited when i watch all these newer stuff... What do you recomend to sample, remix, .. al that crazy stuff.. maybe also record from records (albums on vinyl) into the machine would be great! I watched all these video's everywhere and it is just 2 complicated what to buy 🥺
