When you hear the stars from that 80s/early 90s generation talk and tell stories. It just seems like just a better league back then. The comradary, the respect for other great players even if they hated them. I think it'll be a long time before that generation will be topped as the glory days of the NBA.
@@andremcdaniel368 Bias was drafted in 1986, the year that the Celtics won the championship, losing one game at home, including playoffs. They would have been fine.
He elbowed Parish in the throat. He elbowed Bird in the Jaw. He sprained Parish’s ankles. He hooked Bird and slammed him to the floor. My eyes work just fine. He broke Isaiah’s rib and then punched him in that side again.
I didn't want to believe it, but after listening to John Salley describing it, and rewatching it, he is right, Rodman pulls Laimbeer down which brought Larry with him. Wow, did not expect to have my view of that changed.
Except you can clearly see Laimbeer's arm close lining Bird. I think Sally is trying to change history a bit cause Rodman and Laimbeer were his boys. I don't care of Rodman pulled him down or not, Laimbeer was trying to hurt Bird.
I don't know why Salley isn't one of the most recognizable, sought after ex-athletes in the world. His sense of of humor is so sly, and he's obviously so bright and quick, he should be a lot more famous than he already is. I like Barkley, but if I had to choose between a Charles Barkley interview and a John Salley interview . . . it's Salley all day, every day.
Spider and Worm are exactly what the Bad Boys needed during their NBA Championship run. They had energy and excitement, played great defense, and sprinted those lanes from one end of the floor to the other. Bad Boys 4 Life!
I had Spiders back in the day. Very comfortable and light, and they were only $20 a pair. Bought 2 pair, and by the time I'd worn out the second pair, Kinney Shoes had quit selling them.
I don't know why anybody gets mad about Jerry West and Winning Time. After watching Winning Time, Jerry West now looks more likeable and a cooler guy to me.
Watched that play at half speed and it looks like Salley might have a point. Dennis's leg was over Bird's shoulder and Laimbeer's arm got caught up in it somehow. The best part is the sound at 0.5 Tommy Heinsohn and Dick Stockton sound like a couple of drunks. LOL
You seriously think if Laimbeer played for the Cs the way he played for Detroit that Cs fans wouldn't love him? He ticks every single box for an iconic Cs player. John doesn't mean he'd be greater than Bird or Havlicek or Russell in a basketball scene. He's talking about fandom and he has a point.
@@nyarlolhotep514 exactly my point. That's why his weed must be really good his mind is totally enlightened. Good weed, good thoughts. Bad weed, bad trip.
😲😲Regarding Laimbeer, Sally is either delusional, or lying. Laimbeer's legs did get tied up- but Bill also violently pulled down Bird and threw him to the ground. Laimbeer was the dirtiest player of his era. Period.

Substitute the word “crazy” for “insane” or “blasphemous”. Larry Bird is one of the greatest 5-8 players to ever walk the planet. As great as Luka is, he doesn’t sit at the same table as Bird, Magic, Kareem, Jordan, etc. Maybe when it’s all said and done (after he wins three rings and three straight MVPs), but definitely not now.
Larry would have been top 5,maybe even top 3 all time , if he did not injure his back. The man was that good and the only thing that stopped Larry…was Larry. He injured his back while fixing his families house lifting bricks or something.
John Salley with back to back championships - I'm from detroit, we loved John then and we love him always.
Yeah, Pistons fans know when we see Salley, that's family and no matter what he says, he has Bad Boys all over his soul... the other stuff is money.
@@plainsimple244 Yeh, and didnt you luv it when it took the GOAT six years to get past Detriot's Bad Boys - Fu^7K Jordan.

Nicest person in sports. He spent a long time at the Miami Airport with my dad when I was a kid. Class act!
John is one of the best people to hear talk sports ever.
John Salley has 4 favorite players.
Each one is his favorite.
Don't argue.

John gives best interviews
Salley is always hilarious, true basketball lifer
Man I can listen to him all day. He needs to do more stuff
Personable, opens up, and always interesting
John does a large lot of stuff. And i agree- he needs to be shown way more often.
Imagining Len Bias alongside Bird, McKale and Parish is a scary thought.
Except Bird said it wouldn't have happened. Had Bias not died, Bird said he would've retired.
they wld have had to either change the tempo or trade the old guys....

Laimbeer was an artist at bending the rules & not getting caught. His defense didn't shut you down it just made u play bad.
Or injured you.
his defense? grabbing your throat and slamming you to the floor is not defense
