Braving the storm

- Weather dropped from 45 degrees to 7 over the weekend, dumping six or seven inches of snow on our camp. Wet cold conditions pushed gear to its limits.
In retrospect: While everything worked, there are improvements to my gear that may have been beneficial. The saw is nice and packable, does a great job on green wood, but a bigger and more aggressive one would have helped process firewood. Looking at the Silky Katanaboy 500 as a good compromise between size, weight, durability and ease of use.
The largest fail- which was entirely my fault- was my beanie hat. Twice it got saturated. Being wool, it still kept me warm, but dry time was long. Its thin, there are certainly better options if put in the position of: I only get to have one hat and need to keep warm in wet conditions. I am looking at replacing it with a fur/ leather aviator cap, particularly after seeing Jon’s Canada hat work so well.
What a great video. Love it.
Thank you!
