The 70's was an awesome time to be a teenager!
Indeed they were
I still love this song, and it’s February 2023.
I was ten and my sister nine at the time this song came out. We used to hear it on AM radio and sing it together. Singing and smiling, she knew all the words ... Happy music, happy times: ❤
This song reminds me of my husband, he has a Chevy van , and we have had some fun in it🥰😁
I'd forgotten about this song... sorta sums up the seventies.
It does sum it up pretty nicely.
I was 16 when this came out, remember it well, now 67, still own the car i had at 16.
great tune and cool photo of better times. thanks!
I had a 67 Chevy van .loved it .and the love and memories. I'll never forget.
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Jones, Sr. had a '66 Chevy Van: small V8, '3 on the tree' shift stick! They either sold or junked it, I can't remember; it's been 39 yrs this Spring!!
I had the same but a '68. I met a beautiful blonde babe going through Taft California. What the song tells I did. A wonderful memory I will never forget.
Oh, and by the way. The blonde girl...her name was Patricia "Trish" Davidson! Nice girl!
This song is why my dad bought a Chevy Van
I was 11 years old Rockin' my button up fly red white and blue star and strip hip hugger jeans! Those were the days! ☮️
Reminds me of H.S., vans were popular, what a great song.
I was 7 when this song came out. I used to sing this to my dolls.
I was a 1st grader in Fall '74 when I heard it on AM 1400, WSJM almost every day!
😂 did you use a hair brush as a microphone? Cuz I did. Lol
@@Johnny-sm2lb
If course! 😂 I pretended I was a guest on the Sonny and Cher Show😁
Since this came out when I was a kid I thought it was "Like a picture she was laying there"
Omg...I thought the same thing!! LOL
Memories 🥰
best of times
chevy made a ton of money when this song came out they sold a lot of vans
No. Chevy vans were being coverted before 1973. 1970 was the start of luxury conversion vans, my dad had brand new Chevy he converted himself. He was a carpet layer so yea carpeted walls, everything. Lol It was a gorgeous red one with side pipes, Crager wheels and had flaming red paint. I was about 9 back in those days living out in the country on a homestead. And today, Yep I'm living on a homestead on a mountain at age 58. Its the only way to have REAL Freedom these days. No tvs and limited internet. Amen!
It's been an age since I've heard this and it still gives me the warm fuzzies when those opening strains start playing :)
Great music
I hadn’t heard that song in years!! I was around 14 or 15
Love this song.
Sammy Johns is reminding me of a Friday evening, 8-4-78; we were on the highway from Bartow, FL when the transmission gave out: "We all bopped in the 'Chevy Van' and that's alright with me..." I thought? Uncle Joe took us back to Grandma's home: come Saturday morning, we eventually left!!
2023 and forever my song! 🎶 ❤
Sammy's legacy lives on. He went on to work in a factory. RIP Sammy
This song makes me remember my van, my first real girlfriend, smokin' weed and makin' out with her!!❤
Decked out vans were a thing when oz a kid i remember the Denim Van in a hot rod magazine back then lol i couldn't put that magazine down that was the koolest van ever - Do any 50 something dudes remember that van ? 😊
I remember being 8 years old, sharing a room with my older brothers Tim and Eric and us drifting off to sleep every night with our Technics Stereo that Santa left us the previous Christmas tuned to our favorite stations -- WABC ''77'' in New York with the legendary Dan Ingram.... "The Famous 56" Philadelphia's powerhouse WFIL... and our hometown favorite, "The Big X", WEEX 1230 AM in Easton PA.
Bought a stack of records at HENRY'S SECOND HAND STORE . this album was in the stack . I love this song.
Welcome to Saltville, Va
Reminds me of the Woodstock film... 2024
she was laying there like a picture with moonlight dancing on her hair.
I did it in a prius once!

Sad!
Just bought a '90 Chevy G20 van... I guess I've found its theme song lol
A Magaxine that was out in those days Van World helped me survive those years and helped me stay hopeful until I reached Adulthood whatever that is or supposed to be LOL
Gave her a ride to the nearest burger 🍔 Joint ❤😊
