I miss playing drums in a big band so much it hurts............ at 72 Y.O. I get goose bumps hearing the real deal, and remembering the days, life is short , play hard, and love long.
PJ,....I am 77 years old and wish I thought about how it would be at 70+ years, so that I could do what I wanted at 35+ because things happen as you get older and you can't do some of the things you wanted to do. I tell all of the younger ones to really think about this. Thank you............Betsy
1980 Triumph - I think that's a touch harsh man. In the concert's I have watched over the years he doubled for several original guitarists Johnny Graham, Al Mckay, Roland Bautista and took on Mo's vocals when he became ill - I'd say that's being pretty flexible. He seems happy to sit back (out of the limelight) most of the time which isn't usual for a singer or lead guitarist... only thing in this clip is he's missing his Strat for what looks like a Gibson ES335 - former better for a lead sound
So much nonsense written here!SMH Verdine learned from Louis Satterfield, the best of the best, and he stands right next to Stanley Clarke, Bootsy Collins, Marcus Miller, Larry Graham etc.His bass duells with Mo Pleasure havn't been fake at all, so think before you talking shit...and Sheldon had his very own, great style besides his composing talent.
Whoa boy, check yourself!! Just because I blast Sheldon doesn't mean I have no issues with Verdine. I don't think he has even played bass live since 80, most of it is track.
Sheldon is the worst, one of the poorest additions to EWF, all he played was typical boring crap. Nothing he ever did was remarkable EXCEPT for the song Sunday Morning, other than that he was terrible.
I still don't like Philip's solo.I hate the new member EWF after Maurice retired because of illness ...I love the voice of Leader Maurice. It was a very disappointing event😢
One of the best bands ever
Haha, you are correct, sir!

The guitarist reminds me of Bookman from Good Times.
@lakersman26 - Thanks, but when have you heard me sing?
Who's the singer stage left? He mostly stayed in front of the horns.
Church
I never saw your comment, but I agree, plus he sounds a mess up there. Its horrible.

clean your ears
I really didn't like his solo and his whole attitude walking up there.....and I don't like watching do that bow afterwards. He doesn't seem to fit.
All that and he still sucks. Sheldon was the worst addition to EWF. They lost something with him and are better since he has gone.
