Go, Kitchen, Go! - The Stream of Life in Izu 2/6/2013

This episode is set around the upstream of the Kano River in the heart of Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture. The feature chef is Yuki Aoyama, who runs a restaurant serving traditional Kyoto cuisine.
Using ayu fish, black rice, wasabi(Japanese horseradish)-an Izu specialty, as well as an unexpected blessing of the clear streams, the chef will create original dishes that represent the circle of life.

This is real Japan! Izu penninsula is very unique geologically and calturally. It was originally an island moved from far far away with the Philippine sea plate sliding under the Eurasian plate and pushing the island toward the Japanese main land. Many of the ancestors of the people there were from the west or elsewhere, often to escape from something. It is a place which is very Japan and very unusual at the same time. Amazing place!!
