Lauren Alexandra O'Connell is a contestant from Survivor: Edge of Extinction.
Forming a faction with the forceful Wardog DaSilva and returnee Kelley Wentworth, Lauren admitted herself in a strong and strategic trio that maintained control on both the Manu and Lesu tribes until the merge. Despite Wardog's blindside of Kelley and the dissolution of the Manu Alliance, she swiftly made inroads with the remnants of the Kama Six alliance and reached the final five. After misplaying a Hidden Immunity Idol for eventual winner Chris Underwood and playing Rick Devens's fake idol, she was taken out due to her calculated gameplay by both men.

Three words to describe you: Competitive, committed, and compassionate.
What is your personal claim to fame? I believe my claim to fame is my resilience and grit. Throughout my physically demanding career as a collegiate athlete on the Baylor Women's soccer team, I've endured four orthopedic surgeries, rehabilitated physically and emotionally in order to remain an integral part of an Elite 8 team, and will obtain a Bachelor's degree in Medical Humanities (in four years!) from a phenomenal university while prioritizing service and volunteerism in the community of Waco.
Who or what is your inspiration in life? My parents inspire me. They love passionately: each other, their family, and their friends. They model compassion and selflessness through their daily actions and have taught me to persevere through grief and smile through life's toughest obstacles. They've inspired me to fight for things I believe in and they always remind me that my value is not determined by the perception of others. They love abundantly and without reservation, cheer for others in every circumstance, and model how to reflect Jesus in my life.
If you could have three things on the island, what would they be and why? My Bible to remind me that I can only find my worth in Him. Sunscreen. But only SPF 25, because a little tan looks good on everyone. M&Ms.
Which Survivor contestant are you the most like? Parvati Shallow is my spirit animal. Her infectious smile, smart wit, and expertise in using her sexuality has won her a place in my heart and I feel like my gameplay could be similar to hers. I also strongly relate to Kelley Wentworth's gameplay. She is unapologetically herself, dominates the physical demands of Survivor, and is a threat in any type of challenge. Ideally, I would play the game as a perfect mix of these two powerful females.
What's your reason for being on Survivor? My primary motivation for being on the show is to test my INDIVIDUAL capacity to rise to all the challenges I will face. I have played team sports from the time I was four years old and so have always had teammates to rely on when competition was intense. This game will push me to rely on MYSELF, with no parents or teammates who have my back, nobody to lift me up emotionally, and nobody to help me through the physical demands. It will be a true test of MY strengths, my confidence in my social skills, and my individual ability to build alliances that will benefit me, all in a very short and intense time period. The fierce competition from the starting moment is what draws me to this game. This has always been a dream and goal of mine! I told my family when I was seven years old that I would be on Survivor, and I FINALLY am! My final motivation is that I will be applying to dental school next year which is an extremely expensive dream, so when I am named Sole Survivor I'll be able to pay for this dream without incurring more debt. As a dentist, I plan to change lives by instilling confidence through beautiful smiles, and winning this game will help me to achieve this without the burden of debilitating debt.
Why do you think you'll "survive" Survivor? I have a competitive drive that few people can hope to match. I am a fierce athlete with the ability to endure extreme physical battles coupled with the desire to throw myself wholeheartedly into new adventures and challenging situations. "Surviving" won't be an issue-I plan to outlast and win. I am brilliantly strategic, but subtly humble about....

I love Lauren because she is a fan so passionate about the game that she doesn’t even care about losing, she is just so honored to have even gotten to play this game, I want to see her in future seasons

Survivor Geek that would be sad. She is still young to compete. It would be crazy if at the end it would be Parvati, Rob, and Sandra.
She was probably the best from a season that (what I feel) was full of likable players. You could tell she really just enjoyed being there the whole time. Helped that she was a dime piece too
I agree. Casting did a great job on this season and she stood out among all of them.
@@SurvivorGeek Legit think the producers got themselves a stellar cast but marred the season with an unpopular, controversial "losers bracket" twist and threw in returning players. As much I love Wentworth and the other returnees, lots of screentime always goes to the returning players and the stories and character arcs of the newbies are either underdeveloped or written relative to the veterans. The Edge divided screentime a lot and significantly impacted how the jury would vote. On the flip side, the Edge highlighted how terrific of players Rick and Chris are despite being voted out, and gave us a memorable first boot in Reem.
@@mrjollyguy25 Absolutely, I agree with everything. I wish they would have spent less time on the return players, and helped us get to know Chris better before he came back and won it all. I'm actually ok with how he finished and won, I just didn't like that he felt like a stranger.

The greatest moment in this entire god forsaken season (where 70+% of it didn't matter):
Kelley: "I've got it"
Lauren "I have one too"
Kelley: "Oh my God. I love you."
The instant formation of one of the greatest showmances of all time. Meanwhile, Wardog is climing a tree for absolutely no reason in the background and he's completely clueless.
Don't forget the diving challenge where Kelley told her "I trust you, you've got this" - and she won it for the tribe!
Such an awesome duo. Loved it!
I would've called it Sistermance! ;)
Why I love Lauren:
1- She was a fucking warrior. Often times you look at this pretty girls and you just see a pretty girl but she was just such a beast.
2- She also had the personality, she was sassy, she was likeable, she was just a lot of fun
3- She also had the strategic chops, she knew how to pull off a vote and get herself out of hard situations
4- This all just equals to an amazing competitor, fun to watch, entertaining, she had a good arc btu she was still playing the game really hard and really did what she needed to do even if that idol play at f6 was kinda shit. She is one of my all time favs ngl
It’s kinda sad how you can see Lauren slowly get skinnier and skinnier because she isn’t eating
It's always interesting to me to see their transformations. Typically players lose 20-30 pounds, almost a pound every day. Survivor is no joke.
You can see just how bad it is when she passes out, and from the angle of the camera you can see her ribs are way farther out then her stomach.

I love how Wardog just keeps talking trash about her not being in the game but end up being more physical than Wardog during challenges lol

She lost so much weight throughout the course of the show it was really worrying
It's crazy to stop and think how competitive the players can still be under such conditions. I would be in trouble if I lost 20-30 pounds in just over 1 month.

I'm glad that other people noticed how clever she was. I was worried that I was the only one noticing that she could have won the whole game if luck would have tipped things in her direction.
A lot of potential she should comeback.
I really hope they bring her back sometime. It would be fun to see how she would modify her game the second time around.

If only all the early boots cleared the island and only mergers remains in EoE, Lauren could have easily won. Kelley or Aurora would return instead of Chris.

I really feel pain watching Chris manipulate her to use her idol. She would’ve won had she got to the end but she didn’t work hard enough finding the idol before Devens did. Kelley definitely played a HUGE part of why Lauren got eliminated and wasted her idol.
