Want to increase your pull ups and build an overall stronger back? Pay attention to the points I talk about in this video.
First thing to know when trying to increase your pull ups is that more is not always better. Just because you're doing a ton of reps and sets does not ensure that you are actually progressing. You have to have structure. For building size we have to be in that 6-13 rep range and endurance 13-20 reps. Rest periods should be 45s - 1 minute. If you can only do about 2 or 3 pull ups, start increasing variation and perform exercises like bodyweight rows.
Also, soreness does not always mean you are making progress. You might think that you have to do as much as possible, but just because you feel sore does not mean you are moving forward properly. Soreness is a result of your body being under stress which it is not used to, and it is trying to recover and repair itself.
Next, stop doing the same exercises over and over again. Most people assume that if you want to get stronger at pull ups, you have to practice pull ups. But this is not always the case, by increasing your variation it will translate over to a stronger position on the pull up bar. Start including different exercises into your routine!
Hand placement is very important. Most people have their thumb over the bar, but by doing this you are losing a lot of key strength. Your thumb is the strongest digit on your hand, so use it! Grip the bar with your thumb underneath. You also want to have your hands in a pronated position and not supinated (chin ups).
Lastly, you may not be doing enough high intensity volume. Increasing the variation will increase the intensity. When you're performing inverted rows, try doing it with one hand instead of two. This will get you stronger in the muscles required to perform a pull up.
Take note of everything I discussed in this video and take it with you to your next workout. Stop making excuses as to why you can't and start giving yourself a reason as to why you can. We can all get stronger together!

Writing this for those who can't do even 1 pull up. It may sound silly but all what you need to do is try to pull up more and more. Anyway, here some advices from me.
    1. If you can't do even 1 pull up, start from negative pull ups. You can find some information about it if you need
    2. If you got a dumbbell you should pump your biceps. strong biceps can help you at the begining ( at least it helped me a lot so i came from 1 pull up to 13 really fast )
    3. Also you can use hand expander. It will improve your forearms so you could have a nice grip.
I'll be happy if i helped at least 1 person.

@@Jay-fq4dt I don't really know anything about pain in shoulders while doing pull ups, you can check these exercises ( it's on russian, you can just check pictures ) kak-bog.ru/kak-nakachat-plechi-gantelyami these exercises will strengthen your shoulders, maybe that's a key. sometimes i do a second exercise from that site.
Or maybe you just need to visit a doctor.
Anyway, try to do 10 negative pull-ups in a row. i mean jump on the bar, do negative pull up and again. My friend started practise this at the beggining of September. He could
do about 1-2 pull-ups with jerky, and now he can 5 pull-ups ( 2-3 of them pretty clear and 2-3 with jerky ) in a row.
Hope your shoulders will be okay. Good luck

I find it pretty difficult to do Fancy workouts coz I don't have much time for workouts and I need to stay relatively Injury free
Also it is not aided by fact that gyms are quite expensive here and there is marketing in gyms, broscience and some not so realistic training plans given.
I think I can workout well in gym once I get a settled life😂.

Btw it's related to doing pullups when I don't do pullups there is no shoulder pain.
      So no fracture/pathological damage there,
I think a Gym trainer might help coz I have assymmetrical right and left rubs, clavicle and Acromioclavicular joint and actually equal weight distribution is challenge sometimes initially in Exercise like pull-ups.
Unfortunately though I don't go to gyms so I got to figure out how to progress/do pullup tries safely thinking myself/watching UA-cam videos.

Why do people have to complicate stuff? When I started doing pull ups I could only do 7, now I can do 24. You don't need to do all these other things! Just try to increase the repetitions every single time you are doing your pull ups and that will do it. Simple as that!

Surely I agree with adding variation! But for me there was a lot more to it. Heres what I did that worked for me
For the longest time, I couldn't do a single pullup. After some years of doing only pulldowns in the gym, i left the country to where I had no gym . I tried to do a pullup. Tho I couldn't do it, I assisted myself to finish it (jumping or leveraging with my leg on the bar). I thought of a plan!
Week 1: Do 10 sets of assisted pullups. 1 pullup , rest and do it 10x.
Week 2: I then tried to do a pullup Unassisted. i found i was able to do 1 full pullup! So now, I decided that I'd try to do 10 sets
1 pullup, 3 min rest in between. I was able to only do 7 pullup sets, but that was still progress!
Week 3: I now tried doing 2 pullups per set, 3 min rest. I did this until I had completed 10 pullups so that was 5 sets.
    I was doing 2x5 now
Week 4: I then tried to push 3 pullups per set, 3 min rest. Some sets I could do 3, some I could 2, some 1. But the set I did 3 was also a major progress breakthrough!
Week 5: Do u get the picture yet? I found I still got stronger and I was able to do 4 pullups per set , with some 3, some 2. I tried to do a full 10 sets this time with 3 or 4 minute breaks in between, or as long rest as i needed so I can do 4 pullups per set.
After 3 months, i was finally able to do 10 pullups in one set!
I found this while just thinking about it while lying down. Now after a while of not doing this program I found I can still do 5-6 a set, so I will continue to work back to 10+!

So your advice to someone who can't do one pull up is to do pull-ups? That's ridiculous advice. Much of what he said is true and works for those who can't do one. Once you can get one, then you can start working your way up the latter with pull-ups.

Listen everybody, there is no science to pull ups, just hold on to a bar and pull yourself up. Combine that with a proper diet and some cardio to lose some weight, if you're heavy, and over time your numbers will increase. Its not hard, some people try to make it harder than what it is.
