As a huge Tim Burton fan I am always up for something new from him. But it hits more when it is a sequel to the movie that started his career, closing a chapter.
Michael Keaton literally has not aged a day. I am so stoked for this.
Yeah we know your dumb, but we don’t need a sequel… it’s unnecessary.
According to a few sources who saw the extended trailer at comic Con in Chicago, it is actually Lydia who summons Beetlejuice to help her find her daughter who has ended up in the afterworld. There is also a clip of Astrid running from Sandworms.

Maybe she finds the hand book and starts playing around with it and gets stuck in the afterworld and that’s why Lydia asks for his help to find her? Cuz I’d be shocked if Astrid dies in the movie , a young girl dying seems too dark for this kinda movie.
Yes, it’s actually a red herring in the trailer, making us believe that Astrid says his name three times, but if you listen carefully, the third time is just the repeat of the second time she said it, giving us the illusion she caused BJ‘s appearance. When BJ says to Lydia „I’m gonna make you so happy“, it‘s likely she once again made a deal with him for marriage in exchange for his help. Also, we later see her in her red wedding dress.
Personally, I‘d find it interesting if they finally went through with that marriage. They may even copy the musical in that regard, having BJ and Lydia get married, then BJ getting killed or exorcised immediately afterwards. Doubt they‘d live happily ever after, but hey, who knows! Lydia is old enough now for that bit not being creepy any longer.
Also: Dolores is clearly the former (?) wife Betelgeuse got his wedding ring from in the first movie, since she‘s missing her left ring finger.
And when Ortega said, Astrid would not be what we likely expect from her, I guess she means that Astrid is not a goth girl. We already know that Lydia kept her spooky habit, even made a career out of it by hosting some sort of Ghost TV show, and since there seems to be a bit of a rift between mother and daughter, Astrid likely doesn‘t want to have anything to do with the paranormal.

If Tim Burton says this movie is a return to form for him and Michael Keaton and the rest of the cast loved the filming experience, then I’m in.
I remember watching the original Beetlejuice on VHS at my babysitters house… I was about 7. Loved it then and still enjoy it now. I hope the sequel is good.
I'm just glad Michael Keaton reprised his role, & Beetlejuice himself wasn't recast. 🙇🏿♂️👧🏻

@CortexNewsService agreed, some roles were perfectly made for actors/actresses and cannot be recast
Burton wouldn’t of done the movie if he wasn’t recasted and if the studio wouldn’t have had those two the movie probably would’ve never been made. But if they had done it without them though it would’ve completely flopped!

I went to a Drive Through in Punxsutawney PA to see the first BeetleGeuse in '88. It was part of of a double feature with the first movie being About Last Night. On another note, Monica Bellucci is still a dime, dayumm

I think Beetlejuice’s wife, Dolores, is going to be the main antagonist and will make things difficult for the Deetz unless they can deliver BJ to her. She’ll kidnap Astrid and Lydia will bring BJ back and they’ll team up to save Astrid and BJ as well and end up making a kind of truce- Bj helps rescue Astrid if Lydia doesn’t give BJ to Dolores.
The only sequel ive been excited about in a very long time.

The movie title for this secuel is great, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.
Ok... sooooo, the twist is that Lidia is the one who dies, probably riding her bike. That's what brings the 3 generations together. Then beteljuice is hired by (villion behind the scenes, Van dams character) to bring her to the afterlife. As Ortega tries to get beteljuice to bring her mom Lidia back to the living.
Will there be a Beatlejuice Beatlejuice Beatlejuice then?
While anxious to see the film, movie-going lost its appeal well before the millenium turned; watching a DVD or stream with family/friends & NOT paying outrageous prices is a LOT more fun!
