Good review. Personally it’s not a 3 wood or a driver replacement for me. I ordered mine -1 inch to take yardage off so it’s a club to use on tighter par 4s which can be used so it’s 30 yards behind my driver but also 15 yards closer to the green than a really good 3 wood would have got. So basically, I used shaft length to make it go the yardage I want. But….. after mini driver my next club is 7 wood. That’s because I see no benefit of 3 wood off the deck, as that was getting me into difficult up and down positions. As trying to hit a 25 yard wide green from 250 was always most likely leaving a hard bunker shot. So now I just hit 7 wood 30 yards short of the green but that’s likely to be a relatively easy pitch up the green off fairway. So basically. My mini PXG is shorter to make sure it doesn’t catch my driver up but I get the added forgiveness over a 3 wood and the same accuracy, but my approaches are shorter than a 3 wood would leave me, so that’s increases my birdie chances.
Gaz that's bigger than the 975D I have sat in the loft. The D was 260cc and we hit them just fine...maybe try one of those against that mini-driver too? See how they both compare? Looking forward to your next vlog when Sam gets into it...I always enjoy his knowledge 👍
@garymartingolf He'll appreciate that I'm sure. Things difficult there at the moment...Planning has been held up again by Calderdale. The whole situation is getting more than a little crazy 🙄🙄🙄
Put the shorter shaft in your driver and test against the mini? Unless the mini can really be a regularly used fairway club I don't see the realistic point, unless you don't mind specialist clubs taking a spot. Right now the minis just seem like higher speed player clubs. Compare hitting the 460 driver with shorter shaft off the deck also!
We have tried putting a shorter shaft in a driver before. You just can’t get the shaft as short without losing all the swing weight in the head. I’m thinking of this as a potential driver replacement. I’m going to play out of the course with it, and if I can hit it on a tight desperation 265+, I think that could help my game.
@garymartingolf That's fantastic if it can replace 460 driver! See, I love PXG driver and wood heads for how easy they are to add back swing weight..just get heavier weights in those ports and see how it performs? Swingweighting should be a breeze compared to some. I know not all drivers are that easy to swingweight. I've built my own 460 minis for trial..the AI Smoke Max wasn't bad as I could easily add weight as well in front and back and play at 43.5 at D2ish. Personally I just didn't see big enough dispersion gains over my 45in shaft..I think because it's such a forgiving head anyway. To be fair, if PXG sent me a mini for free I wouldn't turn it down! I just don't know how a fitted 300cc head is going to beat a fitted 460 head for forgiveness and consistency off the tee, ever. But if you have the speed to hit it off the deck as well, then maybe? But I want to see the 460 mini off the deck results too. :) Honestly it's not a shot I try often if ever..but I don't even carry a 3 wood anymore either for the same reason.

@Handletaken4 You will always find that on any stats based system 310>285 when it comes to scoring. You have to remember every driver isnt in the rough and every 3wood or mini isnt in the fairway. Its also been proven that 3wood or mini driver in this care isnt really more accurate for handicap golfers when it comes to fairways hit.
There’s plenty of stock shaft options, I’ve just found my preference, however, a lot of people say they can’t tell, so they wouldn’t necessarily need to upgrade.
This PXG club is rather unattractive. But PXG has not been noted for eye-candy when it comes to attractive club appearances. Mini Drivers are overblown and not nearly as popular as some claim. We see them hanging helplessly on racks.
Do you think? I think they’re nice. Where are you based? That’s so contradictory to the UK, we can’t even get them! TM and Callaway were sold out most of last year.
@@garymartingolfUSA. Just about every big box retail store has plenty of inventory. Gary, I think you should stay with your hybrids over a mini. You hit your hybrids so very well during your trip to Turkey
Well I remember my dad having persimmon 1-4 woods, 50 years ago, Sadly only the 3W survived and I was playing it 3 years ago when I started playing again, as well as a 5W and the head on the 5 is tiny
Superb PXG mini driver review Gaz, looking forward to seeing Sam trying different shafts in that head and really dialling it in for you
Loved watching this video and the depth you’ve gone into to find where it can fit.
Keep up the good work Gaz!!!
Can't wait for mine to arrive now, ordered last week 😁⛳
Beautiful 👌🏼
Splendid review, fellas, like only you do.
Thank you very much, appreciated 👌🏼
Love these videos. The knowledge is awesome
Love learning new things off Sam 👌🏼

@garymartingolf Do you have one or should I drop mine of for you when I'm next down at Geoffs?

Great to see mini driver from PXG
It’s some club 👌🏼
I wouldn’t worry about the gapping, carry both, you hit the minidriver off the deck
Didn’t James Robinson have a specialist fitting for his TM Mini Brnr at SGGT
Aftermarket, not from Taylormade. PXG are the first brand to have a fitting kit (no upcharges / and upcharges) for their stockists.
I can turn my driver into a 12 degree and grip down a bit. What would be the difference

So who’s next with a mini driver? Which club do you take out to put it in the bag? I don’t carry a 3 wood
That’s the big question, I can be setup as a driver or a strong forgiving 3 wood 🪵
🔥
Your mate Robinson will be spitting feathers, he is so into mini drivers, however he never bags one. Usurp him and play it
Drivers coming out the bag for a few weeks. I’m definitely going to commit onto playing the mini to see how my scores look.
Great looking club, but to get it in my specs (I'm insanely particular) costs a f#@&ING fortune here 😂😂
Why? What are you wanting lol 😂

So that £429 club went to about £629 + with that shaft hefty that!!

£630 for the club, to be hit 10-12 times a round max 😮😮😮
