Updating your resume for a career transition can be a daunting task, but it's worth the effort! Remember to highlight transferable skills and showcase your passion for learning and adaptability. Best of luck on your new career journey!
I love this! As a research and development professional, I’m wondering how this template is modified when organizing a CV. My assumption would be that the first three sections remain the same (career profile, career highlights, and professional experience). Then the rest goes at the end (funded research, publications, awards/honors, classes taught, etc). Is that a correct assumption?
OMG my CV has always been in functional format 😳But I do state which tools/skills I have used in my professional history section, so I hope it does make it clear where I picked up and used those skills.
Hi Andy! I have been working as client solution specialist working at a banking industry, wants to career change into business analyst role. For career changers, how should I write career highlights and rest of resume to stand out?
You need to make your accomplishments to where you want to go. That means you need to identify what accomplishments and skill sets and traits they seek in your future career. Look back at your work history and extract, the analogous accomplishments and skill sets. There are several steps you can go through to do this, which are too complicated to explain in a quick response here. However, if you check out my resume writing playlist and note the exercises where you are identifying top goals for your future employer, the team you’ll be on, and your position, you’ll get started in the right direction. Good luck!
Andy, I'm cooking with gas revamping my resume and my Tesla (that I was hoping to buy when I get this new job) just hit a dang wall!! ANDY!! These two positions were Jan of 2016 to July 2017 at the car place, and from March 18 to Jan 20 at the plant. I have NO idea I can't just leave it off because it's a GAP, GAP, GAP!!! "Potential" 52k to 212k? I'm from Missouri show me. I want to see a copy of her most recent paystub.
LOL. this is common stuff right now with people in my program.
Are you adjusting your resume for each job you apply for?
Just a quick breeze over for keyword matching IF IF IF it's necessary.
@@andylacivita thank you!
What are your thoughts on a picture in the resume?
Elizabeth! Great question. Some countries very much prefer to have a picture on your résumé. For example, in Germany, it’s appropriate. If you are in the United States where I live, I would completely avoid putting a picture on your résumé unless you are interviewing to be a model.
@@andylacivita do you believe putting pictures on resumes will be a "thing" in the US within the next few years? I've seen so many trends over the years in my career none of which were as stinking awful as the "BRAG BOOK" s#*% that was going on around 2011ish. How stupid was that???
drink a beer next time...
Okay. Maybe I will.
