Branding & tagging some of our replacement heifers!

These heifers are going to be replacing some of our older cows in the herd. Hence the name "replacement heifers" this is important in the sense that one would need to keep making genetic improvements even if the cattle are commercial cattle. In the video there are two bulls that are within the herd as well. Both of these bulls are about 20 months old so in between both of them they should be able to cover them all. For a good estimate a bull can cover one cow per month that he is alive. A 20 month old bull = 20 cows he could cover.

Coming from 6+ generations of farmer/ranchers Pedro Valles Sr. came up with the PV. The brand is made up of two letters. The P for Pedro (first name) and the V for Valles (last name). The brand was first established in Mexico in the year of 1980 and it has been in the family for 3 generations. Now located in the small town of Hennessey, Oklahoma we proudly manage mostly Angus cattle and American quarter horses.
