    Can tell by the calmness of your voice how you treat your animals. Nice bunch of cattle you have. And love to see the videos.

    Farm trucks get cleaned out when you drop the check from the sale barn down the side of the seat next to the console

      We got rain last night and that was good, the snow melted when the ground was froze so it is dry. We have been pumping water off one 1/4 of land and tried to pull ditches yesterday and the ground is still frozen under the water.

    What model of edge sunglasses are you wearing? Your cattle look good after a rough winter.

      I'm not sure on the glasses , I just know that when my bill came at the end of the month that they cost $50. lolI feed my cows all they can eat of good quality feed when it is cold, if you let them get skinny it is hard to get them in shape to breed.

    I would agree with your comments about cattle condition with regards to pure bred cattle and commercial breeding cattle. Generally fat cows when they have calves at foot is taken as some evidence that she isn't milking well and just puts any food on her back. Fat young bulls (and rams) seem to just melt like butter in the sun if you bring them home and expect them to work well - they are just too juvenile to cope with much in the way of useful work!

      yup you need to push performance but try not to finish them for slaughter.

    I got a red balancer this past year and I like how yours are looking may be just old wise tale but I always heard the reds grow off faster so I have both black and red can't go wrong that way I guess

    • @AndersonCattleCo

    What do you mean when the bull “kinks” the tail.

    • @jasonmikkelsen8869
      @jasonmikkelsen8869 6 років тому

      Just what I was thinking

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  6 років тому

      When the bull penetrates the cow or heifer they will have a bent tail for a while after they were jumped.

    So what do you have for all cows and heifers

  • @CDaisy-tp7hw
    @CDaisy-tp7hw 5 років тому +2

    True or false: Twin calves, male and a female. The female will be sterile.
    Heard that back in highschool biology class and never thought of it until you mentioned twins here.

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  5 років тому +2

      A female twin that was carried with a male has a 90% chance that will be a freemartin or sterile. Sometimes you can see that the hfr isn't built right on the outside and urinates like a sprinkler and sometimes everything looks normal inside and outside but she fails to breed.

    I don't see any effort to give the cattle shade trees. Seems like it would help the cattle.

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  5 років тому

      lol come to southern Alberta we are the prairies we don't have trees. We don't have enough moisture to grow trees and if you can water them and get them to grow they winter kill. My cattle are fine and if you don't like it don't watch.

    Had the same thing done. They cut it off my nose and neck. Dang sun anyhow 😉

    • @AndersonCattleCo

      I hate waiting for the surgery, saw the plastic surgeon and now I have to drive to Calgary to get the cancer cut out then Lethbridge the next day to fix the hole in my nose. So both places have to find a time that works for both of them, and they still haven't called with a date.

    Do the dad bulls know who are their babies?

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  5 років тому +1

      I don't think so, in horses they say that a stud can tell if the colt is his but bulls don't seem to know or care.
