damn, this is the most wonderful and most original costume i've ever seen! 😱😍🤩 you're the most perfect merida! i love this and you in this costume so much! 🧡
It may have been easier to make a separate poet shirt to go underneath, and just sew the straps at the Elbows and Shoulders. And the ruffle on the sleeve could have been faux. Also a hand hem, although historically accurate isn't necessary if it causes so much trouble. I've whipstiched entire ballgowns for productions. Although it looks good, it is a time factor you have to consider. But logistics aside, your Merida costume is lovely. Great problem solving and patterning abilities. 😊
Thanks a lot for your comment! I learned a lot by making this dress and looking back I would have done some things differently indeed. Something like a chemise might have been more accurate and less tedious to make. Although the other method did save me some fabric and gave me a little bit more control over how the "poofs" looked like in the end. I actually kinda like hand sewing hems and for this project it looked really good so I am really happy I did it. But it takes sooo long indeed! hahahha.
@@dotorocosplay While it is true that the white on the sleeves would historically have been part of her shift, I found myself thinking that your clever method would indeed make it easier to get the extra “pouffiness” just where you want it, every time you wear the dress. Very nice!
Thank you!! No I actually bought a wonderful wig from wickedwigs! I only shook out the curls a bit and pinned some hair out of my face and it was ready to go (:
Hello, can you tell me how difficult it is to sew a dress like this yourself? I have just found this video and was immediately impressed. Unfortunately I don't know how to sew. Is this something for beginners? Can you manage it? Is there a "tutorial" for such a great dress?😅😌🙏
it's a beautiful dress, and I want to make it for Halloween, but the link in the description isn't working. plz do something! I want to make the dress so bad, especially as an amateur seeing how well it turned out for you.😢
when knowing that the white bits are actually a shift/ chemise underneath, does anyone else mentally scream "it's not supposed to be done that way/ that's why its so difficult" like yes I know it's been modernized but it just makes it feel too costumey to me when I see this. That said I do this that this is a wonderfully done dress and is very beautiful. I 'm going to be making something very similar in the future. and OMG a zipper! it feels like cheating but it's awesome
Thanks! Yes I understand. I really had difficulties with filming everything because I only had a crappy camera with a short battery life and no camera stand :'). But the links in the description actually cover almost everything I do in the video, so I hope that still helps you a little... And if you have any questions you can always ask them!
I LOVE THIS! Please please make more videos! I'd love to see more of your works!
I am so jealous of your sewing skills!

Do you by chance remember what the fabric is? I am planning on creating a dress and am having a hard time making a decision of fabric choice.

Can you tell me the fabric's name please
Did you use a pattern from Simplicity?
i was thinking it might be easier to make regular sleeves and then sew the poofy parts just over them
How did you fit the bodice? Darts? I didn’t see you sew any. Cute costume.
No darts, maybe she used a stretchy fabric?
I love it
se ve bien
I love printess Merida

@@dotorocosplay Nice. By the way, what kind of fabric did you use to make this dress?
I used wool! Its heavy but easy to sew with and nice and warm.
you can watch it on a very slow speed mode like I did :D
