- Shimano's Budget Entry Level Spinner is Amazingly Priced!
Even the #1 fishing gear manufacturer in the World offers some of the best priced entry level rods & reels currently on the market. This is the 2nd Gen that retired the original in 2019. These units are more advanced than the original. Has 2+1 ball bearings compared to the original 2 bb. Metal housing has replaced some of the plastic as well.
Drag system is front mounted. Has a metal roller clutch. Max drag is rated at 19lb & still incorporates the Propulsion Line Management System. Gear ratio is 5.2:1 with 32in per crank.

A first gen FX 4000 was the first reel I got when I moved to Oahu. I soon upgraded, but kept it as a backup reel. A very well made starter reel..

i always choose these series of reels if i want to get into new style of fishing. The extra weight of the reel can be an advantage specially with 10ft rod
For an inexpensive reel i've heard some good positive feedbacks about them. I'm glad to hear that some manufacturers are producing quality merchandise at a lower MSRP.
Hard to believe it has 40 lbs of drag. I saw these today at Walmart for $20.
