Mainoo seemed to me he was the only one trying to pass through the middle of the field. Good on him winning the man of the match. I do hope that both Ten Hag and Southgate give him time to develop slowly.
Re Mainoo As a arsenal fan I initially thought he was over hyped and doubted him but having watched him closer over the last few weeks he is a certified baller and could reach Bellingham levels in the next couple years maybe sooner. he’s stepped up and took to football at the international and premier league football like a duck to water . With all that’s happening at United and chaos in how they play at time makes him even more impressive to still affect games , if United can get someone like Everton’s Onana he will cook even further.

It’s not about the age, Kane is old and he is godly and will be for another 5-6 years to say the least.

Also, Super Jack and his absence was felt all the way …… We really needed him to break their line.
Lack of Kane and Maguire really showed how weak we were with corner kicks.
Lack of Walker and White showed big time in defence.
We definitely needed Saka for an outside the box shot.
All in all, I am happy we have fresh blood and with 7 people missing, we still do okay, which is great.

tbf he then said that it was partially due to injuries and because there's not many 6s who play in the league. Fantastic performance from him today. He was running low on stamina at some points, which is probably why Southgate was saying we were a little open, he has defensive ability but needs to be more available in defensive areas.
I wonder if fans would have a different perception of Southgate if England had won that Euro finals against Italy , just maybe

The most relevant observation on this comment section. That’s exactly what will happen judging by the tone of Southgate in this interview. The fact the Kobbie isn’t as defensively astute as other players has southgate shitting himself despite his attacking capabilities.

you might question anything about mainoo, but you definitely cant question his decision making.. kid has a football brain of an experienced 25+ year old player, he literally always able to find bellingham for the pass..
biggest takeaway from this is that rashford might not get on the plane. Of course he can play central as well and might not need to bring 3 other strikes if you have him. he can also hit form at United and he'll 100% go. The praise to Gordon and Bowen probably means that they are ahead atm however.

obviously all depends on how he finishes the season, but always a good thing to have squad players that can play multiple positions
Rashford and Gordon in and you've basically got 2 extra players on the bench for both wings and 1 extra at striker

Walker and Stones essentially faked their injuries. Went off in the 13th and 9th minute respectively as soon as they had to sprint backwards. They’ll be fit for Arsenal on Sunday

Gallagher, Henderson, Maguire and Chilwell - should not be on the plane. Mainoo looks the real deal, it might have been useful to have Maddison on the pitch a bit more over the two friendlies, and Toney looked good. Not quite as bad as the Brazil game, but it still looked pedestrian, predictable and over cautious. Another wasted tournament coming up

The issue with England team managers is they fear if they stack the team with mostly black players, they will get backlash for winning without white English players.
