The defence is bad due to the poor player selection. Dunk is Maguire 2.0, what is Southgate’s obsession with picking bad slow central defenders who are off form with their clubs. Do they remind him of himself as a player who was slow and not really good enough for international football? Slow defenders leave England vulnerable in defence, so picking them ahead of defenders with speed that allow England to play a high line.
England have no hope if winning is right
Yeah not sure why he persists in picking dunk. Dunk has been exposed in the EL all season, he got torn to spreads by Roma. How is he deemed good enough for England when someone like tomori (I know he’s been injured this season) who showed what he can do against teams in the CL gets just a half for England and then is never picked again. Why not try out branthwaite who’s got a great defensive record in the league and is versatile. It’s really not that hard

NOT an England fan but I watched the game last night and personally I would put Kobbie Mainoo and Ivan Toney on that plane to the Euros and find it incredulous that one commentator said that Mainoo was 2 years too early???

For me Jude should be the 8, hes so combative and press resistant, yeh he scores goals and assists as a 10 for Madrid but a) we haven’t seen it so much for England and b) we need him deeper as we’re lacking there. Mainoos brilliant but it’s probably 2 years too early for him

Dan Burn shouldn't be called up now due to his club form but how Dunk gets in is a travesty.

We’re heading for yet another failure this Summer, this squad is being held back by one man. Southgate. An FA yes man is literally all he is. We played two poor teams and were very lucky not to lose both. The man is clueless. How Lewis Dunk gets called up ahead of Tomori is laughable.
And how on earth the 2 slowest centre backs on the planet football was played against the pacey attackers like Vinicius and Rodrygo??

Dunk need to go for tamori, I would play steven hawking over Chiswell. We have so many options for defensive players there alot of rapid lads we have and we pick dunk and maguire who have the combinded speed of a snail.
These are friendly matches right? You can slate Dunk but he’s actually a bloody good defender and scores headers from corners that have put him in the squad - he will show his worth if he gets more chances to prove it

Should have used Maddison and Gordon more and sooner. Maddison made more telling passes on the few touches he had. Hats off to Mainoo but all those minutes, bit of pointless running into defenses that didn’t lead to a goal - he spent a lot of time trying to dribble thru walls but it didn’t always work out but at least he tried. Bellingham spent more time in the floor complaining- I thought I was watching Grealish. He was too selfish and trying to do it all on his own. Foden disappointing yet again. Why people don’t talk about Maddison starting this guy creates more chances than most midfielders. The biggest travesty was the lateness of this substitutions. SouthGate doesn’t try to take the game he waits to react to the game. He’s a poor manager wasting the talent he has due to his favorites or trying to be Mr diplomatic and put in a fan favorite that’s trending but just not ready or good enough. At least we got to see Gordon. If I was manager I’d make Chillwell stay away from corners and put someone who knows how to take a shot in his position… That guy couldn’t hit the side of the universe The England penalty wasn’t a penalty technically we got defeated 2-1. England has reached the latter stages of a tournament only once or twice more than Belgium btw...
The only issue Belgium has right now, is defense, if we manage to sort that out, we can definitely make a deep run. We're 6th favorites at the Euros as it stands, so imagine a fit KDB and better defense.

Because southgate won't allow forward passes. As soon as mainoo went forward too often he got subbed off. Southgate makes us hesitate. All of our players play for teams that attack but southgate wants them to defend

Yes he gets in the way by trying to attack. He looks bad at times cause he stands out as the only 1 with freedom to go forward. Everyone else is looking forward, hesitating, passing back or sideways. Stones injury was from exactly that hesitancy

The problem with Belljngham he is ball hungry and is making too many calls on the pitch. The lack of pecking order in this England team is gonna be their downfall.
He just seems to drift out wide and gets in the way of other players. Gordon was excellent on Saturday and he was driving inside looking for a one two with Bellingham or to lay the ball off but he had drifted out wide instead of staying central.
If he wants to play the 10 role he needs to stay within the width of the 18 yard box and play 10 yards off the striker otherwise put Foden in there or Maddison and Bellingham can play LAM
