  • It's not unusual to have a few niggles when you are recovering from hip surgery. Most of them aren't due to anything serious, and they usually get better after a few months. If you'd like to know more, then please get in touch.

Thank you for your comment! It's amazing how the body adapts to and recovers from surgery. Wishing you well as you make your journey along the path of recovery.

My friend went went for knee replacement. 4 in the word. 3 for knee replacement 1 for hip replacement.Doctor came in and said out loud u 3 having knees replaced are guna have lots of pain but the hip replacement won't hurt post surgery.Don't sound very professional.

This is SO reassuring, thank you! I’m a month post op hip replacement and it’s going great but I still have those little thoughts like you said.

Thanks for your comment. The first 6 weeks is the toughest part. After that everything falls into place usually!

Thanks for your comment. I get really annoyed about all the misinformation out there. Recovery from surgery is hard work, and it's not always as smooth as some people say it is.

I'm 4 1/2 months after a femoral neck fracture and partial hip replacement. It's been a mostly pain free experience and I've gained a lot of function but also there is much I still can't do, my rom and flexion is not yet where it needs to be. Recently I began to have some real hurt and my PT recognized I had most likely injured more than my hip when I fell, a sacroilliac belt has proved helpful and the treatment plan has been changed to target other possible injuries as well. Also when I stopped thinking I should be about back to my normal function at 4 to 5 months and looked at it that I was 1/3 through full recovery, I calmed down. It really is a marathon on a roller coaster of ups and downs, not a sprint and not level.

Recovery from a fracture can take much longer than after an elective THR. The psychological shock of the injury has a big effect on your confidence. Good luck with your recovery.

I am 8 days post op! Doing pretty well. Trying to find that balance between walking, Icing, elevating.
