In the mid 60's Dyke was the first to use the word FUNK/FUNKY in his record Funky Broadway.
Then later on James Brown flipped to funk big time and next in the early 70's George Clinton and Parliament/ Funkadelic took funk to a whole new level.
Dyke IMO, started funk with Funky Broadway.
James Brown picked it up and became the father of funk.
Then George Clinton became the Godfather of funk taking it well past JB Soul Bruh #1.
Exciting times to be a teenager and young adult during the 60's, 70's and 80's.
You could just see the transition of black music from rock n roll to rhythm and blues to soul music to funk music to now hip hop and currently rap.
The talent has gone from outstanding to good and in some cases marginal.
But the music and the evolving won't STOP. It can't STOP.
So black musicians will keep FUNK N IT UP!!
    FRFR!!

Im wondering was James Brown jealous of d&b’s funky broadway break I wonder was the motivation to fly a young Bootsy and his band out to be James’ band ? Then I’m like whoa was funky drummer an attempt to make a funky broadway .

Only James Brown was more funky than Dyke & The Blazers... Brown is the King of Funk... Dyke is the Prince.

And James Brown considered them a threat to the throne. Two members of this band eventually went on to join Earth, Wind & Fire after Dyke was killed in 1971.
