  • The United Federation of Planets (abbreviated as UFP and commonly referred to as the Federation) was an interstellar federal republic, composed of planetary governments that agreed to exist semi-autonomously under a single central government based on the principles of universal liberty, rights, and equality, and to share their knowledge and resources in peaceful cooperation, scientific development, space exploration, and defensive purposes.

Thanks for the video. I own the game but yet not had the time to play it. These videos help.

You forgot to mention that they have some really nice defensive advancements with Verteron Array Beam Emitters and Planetary Defense Shields. I had a game where I got both of those out with some shield levels (I hit a lot of blue planets) and my colonies became fortresses that planetary invasions just bounced off of.

Sorry, I didn't see this comment for some reason until just now.
I will be honest and say that the Federation is my least favorite faction to play, so there are limits to what I know about how they work and the combinations that they can pull off.

Don't really know a lot about Star Trek Ascendancy myself, is it more of a strategic level type game? Like you play as the whole Klingon Empire or the whole Federation attempting to take over the Galaxy?

Basically you are starting out as one of the major factions with just your home world. Over the course of the game, you spread out, explore, colonize new worlds, encounter other races and make alliances or go to war. Thematically, each turn in the game spans a decade or so of time. Races get new technology, build ships and fleets, colonize new planets and so on.
I have a video posted about the base game itself that goes into more depth. In fact, I have a whole playlist dedicated to the game, its expansions, and faction strategy videos like this one.

Do they have a space amoeba or Doomsday Machine phenomenon 😀?

Not a phenomenon, but I know there is a reference to both of those in the Exploration cards that come up over the course of the game. Each time you encounter a new system, you draw one of the cards and most of them have references to various episodes from nearly all of the various series and movies.
