Quick Fix for Broken or Stuck Seat Belt

- This short video illustrates how to fix a broken or stuck seat belt.
Simply use a butter knife to wiggle the stuck seat belt button free. Once it pops up to it's original position you'll be able to slip the seat belt clip in and it should clip in place.

Another thing that also works is spraying WD-40 into it to free it up so it never gets stuck ever again

Hey man! Thank you so much. I was crying 😭 bc I couldn't put the seat belt in because by some freak coincidence a tiny little plastic part of my scarf tag fell into that slot b4 I put my seatbelt on. Am I supposed to carry a butter knife in my car now, to use every time I gotta put my seatbelt on, cuz that obviously didn’t fix the issue but only temporarily unstuck it...

(The real solution is to spray some WD-40 in it, or go get a replacement one from the local pick-n-pull)

alright so what if it still didn’t work? it pulled the button back up but the seatbelt won’t click back in
do the same thing in this video but when the button retracts spray liquid wrench dry lubricant or silicone spray. it'll help clean and break up the grime and debris in the mechanism. should function perfectly after that if not, consider a replacement.
You have to throw the car away and get a new one.
That's from you spilling soda or coffee in it and it's gummed up. Clean it with hot soapy water and it won't get stuck any more.

If WD40 doesn't fix it the U-pull wrecking yards won't charge much for a replacement one...
And if you don't have any u-pull-it places nearby, there's always eBay.
Or you could use Wd-40 to help it smooth out 😂

Can i buy the entire box? My specisl needs sister broke it. The mrchanism (red button) works, but the box itself shattered. She tried to force it somehow while trying to use it. All I find online is extensions. I need to chanche the whole piece or buy the box, how do i look for it?
Yes you can buy a new one. Easiest is to buy a used one online or even better, get it from the junkyard.It's not difficult to install.
How do I get coins out? Does the red eject button come out and then go back in??

How can i fix it for my inspection without having too pay??
I popped mine up and it’s still not connecting. It’s stuck in the “clicked in position” even though the belt hook won’t actually click/connect
So now I've to carry a butter knife
But I have to do that everytime I want to buckle
Most probably, you got something stuck down there...Take it out, and you can use that butterknife for something it's actually made for😊
THEN you have fixed it.

Probably replace it. If you go to a local junk yard you can probably get one really cheap. I'd also look on Amazon.

Didn't work on 2013 Tahoe. Used butter knife as shown - dug around for a while. No results. Used WD-40 without success. "Good luck everybody else!"

But it should come back up every time you unbuckle genius!!! Not stay down every time you press the release button. You haven't shown 💩 fixed until it pops back up on its own after every use🤦🏽♂️ I think some silicone lubricant sprayed inside of the release button will fix it.
