  • In this episode of TFBTV, ‪@JamesReeves‬ absolutely destroys a CZ-75 pistol. James has always considered the CZ-75 to be an overrated design, but after spending time with CZ-75 clones over the years, we at TFBTV have developed a respect for the design. But is it all it's cracked up to be? We'll see today on TFBTV.

    The CZ 75 is what John Browning would have designed if he'd lived another 20 years. The other day, I went out into the desert behind the house, set up a target and at 10 yards, drew and fired my EDC carry, the CZ75 P01, cold, no warmup, double action pull, hadn't shot in 3 months, first shot through the X ring. Subsequent shots, emptying the 15 rd. mag, all in the 10 ring. It's that good, carry lint and all.

If you pull the trigger on an empty chamber you will eventually break the firing pin retaining pin and the pistol won't go bang when you pull the trigger! Another problem with CZ hammer fired pistols Is the QC at the factory , the hammer pins are quite often not staked Into position which will cause the pistol to seize up. If you're curious about these Issues give the guys at Cajun Gun Works a call, they will fill you In! I have a few CZ 75's and I made sure to have them checked out by the Cajun Gun Works guy's. For all cz owners. The only weakpoint of the cz75 is that it's not the best dry fire gun. The firing pin and also the trigger return spring tends to break from 10-20k dry fires.
    Cajun addresses both issues and has parts available with better designing that keeps it dry firing forever
    Another gun to not that is excellent for dry fire is arex zero of Slovenia which is tested for 30,000 dry fires minimum. Only drawback is no parts modifications or it will no longer be reliable

    • @mmiski
      @mmiski 10 місяців тому

      I was under the impression that the firing pin retaining pin (roll pin) was the weak point, as it tends to get crushed/cracked over time. Dry firing it just accelerates that. And those who "upgrade" to the solid roll pin sometimes end up with a broken firing pin, because now the firing pin itself is taking the beating from smacking into a more durable retaining pin. Essentially the stock firing pin retaining pin is designed intentionally to be a sacrificial part that's supposed to be swapped out during regular maintenance.

Earlier this year, I picked up a CZC’d PCR, and fell in love with the platform. It is everything I ever wanted in a daily. Amazing SA trigger (2-2.4lbs) unbelievable DA trigger (7-7.6lbs) and ergos that made even the VP9 jealous. I finally went full CZ and picked up a Shadow 2, mainly a range toy. Holy cow, was a firearm. I’ve a firm believer in the CZ metal framed pistols now.

    I'm fortunate that a CZ-75 BD was my *first* 9mm handgun. I wasn't a firearm hipster or looking for a "boutique" gun. I just wanted something that felt good to shoot. I had fired a friend's Glock and *hated* it, but I loved his Beretta 92FS. After doing some research, I learned that I wanted a metal-framed, hammer-fired, double-action pistol. The Beretta 92 and CZ-75 were the most popular, and I chose the CZ. I've never looked back. Again, I'm not a firearm hipster and I wasn't looking for something unique for a collection. I only own four pistols. I simply learned what I liked and CZ fit the bill.

    My first handgun purchase was a CZ-75 while I was stationed in Berlin with the US Army. I loved it so much I bought a second one. I imported both when I came home to the US. They were the toughest and most reliable handguns I ever owned. While plowing the fields on the family farm, my brother who carried one while in the Sheriffs dept. He turned and it hooked on the seat of the tractor and fell from the holster and got plowed into the field. Took us many hours with metal detectors to find it. It still functioned perfectly. When I practiced my stoppage drills I would mix in spent casings into the magazine and it would even feed the empties. I just didn't like that the mags didn't drop free. And the front sites would fall out. Other than that it was perfection.
    I really miss them, had to sell them due to family obligations at the time. I wish I could get another but on a limited budget now again due to family obligations.

It was double charge of a light IDPA load, so that helped, but it was still enough to fire-form the entire case head into the feed ramp and required a vise and resin head hammer to disassemble.
