I own a 99 privateer comp and it still rides beautifully. Only negative is that they stopped making high end 26" rim brake rims. I still have my 26" race lite 28 and 24 hole ceramic coated rims. Wish I could find some comparable rims. Might have to send my bike in and have a frame builder set it up for disks. That's how much I love this bike.
Robert Collinsworth I have a 99 Privateer Comp. I replaced the rear rim with a Ritchey Girder that was heavier but almost free. Same ERD, so I just moved the spokes over from the cracked original rim. Velocity A23s look to have the right ERD and come in 24 and 28 hole, so my “future proofing” is to get a pair of those. I should probably do that before Velocity stops making 26” rims! Great bike, great wheels. Mine is set up rigid with drops, but this video makes me want to put all the original equipment back on.
