nightwish should make more songs in finish. I don't understand their shyness when it comes to their mother tongue. its ridiculous. Finnish sounds amazing. its mesmerising just to hear someone capable of pronouncing those words.

I'm guessing that's also why they got a guest singer for this song, since it was produced when they had the Swedish singer. Their original Finnish singer, Tarja Turunen, left the band almost 11 years ago.
+RoScFan I don't know honestly, if I were more cynical I would say it's because English songs sell better. I think most people are less willing to listen to music that they can't understand the lyrics to - personally I prefer it, I find most lyrics to just be distracting and languages like Finnish sound so much more eloquent .

I always feel awkward and somewhat pretentious trying to describe things using my native language no matter wether it's complex emotions or just regular day to day events. In short Finnish is just a lot of effort to say things in any descriptive fashion that isn't immediately obvious like say the weather. Might be I just typed a bunch of bullshit because I feel awkward and pretentious anyway. :D

I can hear the words perfectly clearly for this. I don't genuinely speak Finnish but I'm learning, and I have no trouble discerning the words here. And I can also hear Tarja fine on Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan. The words sound the way they're supposed to in both cases, so I really don't see the issue. Also, the instrumental version is just Last of the Wilds... Jonsu's vocals make the song.

Sweet! Personally I love how finnish spoken sounds... it's so beautiful. I wouldn't say I prefer this version from the instrumental but I prefer this girl's voice than Anette's. Anyway, I think that Last of the Wilds (intrumental)has a kind of Irish sound, and i love it. With the voice added, the song kinda lost this irish thing but I love it anyway, sounds really great. ( btw, who's the girl??)
I'm native finnish, but honestly, if you think of the language outside of the box, it has a japanese tone to it. Sure it's beautiful to sing certain songs with certain themes, but on day-to-day talking it really... I don't know, makes it hard to truly express you or your thoughts. English is truly easier to make the listener realize what is your point in whatever you say, in finnish it almost sounds like you're pretending you know your shit, when you dont.

I can't decide whether or not I like this song more than The Last of the Wilds. It's hard to compare a beautiful instrumental song and an interesting song that takes a lot of its charm from the fact that it's in Finnish.

Tarja left the band almost 10 years ago. I don't think she's going to be working with Nightwish anymore, she's doing her own solo projects.
Btw, just noticed it also uses Finland's national instrument Kantele in the bridge ;) And the instrumental version uses it in the outro.

I can't decide whether or not I like this song more than The Last of the Wilds. It's hard to compare a beautiful instrumental song and an interesting song that takes a lot of its charm from the fact that it's in Finnish.
