    Glad to see you're going to get to try an XOP. I love their stands. Given how much you seem to enjoy lone Wolf stands I think you will love XOP too.

    I have both that model stand & sticks. They work great! You can move the seat frame to vertical & flip the seat cushion to the other side. This gives you a nice comfortable cushion to lean against when you stand up to wait for the deer to appear. The only thing I don't like are the shoulder straps. Toss them & install comfortable straps. I also have XOP climber, which works just as the Lone wolf model, but costs much less.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 років тому

      Yeah that is nice about the seat. I don't like the smaller thinner cut platform. I used one last fall and when I was leaning up against the tree or needed to maneuver for a possible shot, I just didn't like not having more room for my back foot, but that is just my personal preference. I would rather carry 2 more pounds and feel more comfortable and stable when moving around in the stand for a shot. But that's just me. God bless you.

    Andrae D'Quisto was the original inventor and owner of Lone Wolf. A few years back he sold the company. He signed a non-competition agreement when he sold LW. Now that the non-competition agreement has expired he along with his son started XOP. They added new improvements to the stand he created, like the I beam in the center versus the square tube, making the stand quieter. On the sticks the foot rests are bigger and slightly curved so when climbing crooked trees your foot won't slip off. the new sticks stand off further from the tree than LW allowing you to put more foot on the steps. Plus the sticks lock together making them quieter and easier to transport. Their customer service is also top notch. I am not a spokesperson for them. I just have 2 of their set ups and LOVE them...

    Thanks for the video Sean. This will be my first season bow hunting and first season hunting from a hang on stand. I recently bought an XOP Maximus and a Lone Wolf Alpha II. When you do the setup video for you new XOP, could you also demonstrate how you get in and out of the stand safely? For example, climbing sticks go above the stand and you step down into it, etc.? Thanks for everything you're doing, enjoy all the vids.

    Those sticks.... The locks are genius. I have both lone wolf and XOP stands. love them both. LW is a little better for quality in my opinion. Both companies are by far light years ahead of everyone when it comes to quality. The two best stand companies for sure. The guy who originally developed the LW stand owns XOP and designed those stands. I really need to get some XOP sticks. Those are sick!

    • @seansoutdoors

      Yeah, real nice. A tad heavier than my Lone Wolf but worth it for the locking system and camo coating.

    Sean. On your reviews, I bought a set of sticks and the Air Raid. It's been a few years since I've used a hang on as ladder and climbers have taken over my property. But I have a few areas where neither stand are able to work out but a hang on would be perfect and as you'd guess, this is a killer funnel for a few really nice bucks we have hanging around.

    What are your thoughts about this stand in terms of portability. For example, compared with the portability of lone wolf climber, which I am thinking of buying for a deep woods hunting/camping trip this fall.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 років тому +1

      Climber is easier to transport and set up but you have to make sure you have trees that it will work in. There have been situations I have been in where there were not climbable trees for a climber AT ALL so I had to use a hang on. You just need to look at your situation. God bless you.

    • @eda7875
      @eda7875 7 років тому

      Thanks Sean. For some reason youtube didn't notify me of your answer. I think I'll be getting the lone wolf assault. I am trying to go as light as possible, I used a climber last year but was made out of steel and weighed about 40 lbs, it was brutal to carry around. I live in Vermont and hunt public land, basically mountains. I looked at the summit open shot which is a lot cheaper than the lone wolf, but the platform seems way too small.
      thanks

    • @seansoutdoors

      Probably the seat is the big difference. Also, the XOP paints their platform whereas Lone Wolf does not.

    I've been eyeing XOP's climbing sticks for a while now. Combining XOP's sticks with Millennium's m100u is my new setup for 2017.
    I've also been thinking of making my own tree saddle. Rock climbing harness, sit drag, and good rock climbing rope.
    Sean, have you used any tree saddles in your hunting adventures??

    • @seansoutdoors

      I sat in one at the Great American Outdoor Show and I don't think I would like to hunt out of one. Maybe if I wasn't filming hunts I might think about it, but it just wasn't for me.

      Sean's Outdoor Adventures I just bought the XOP vanish with the XOP climbing sticks. I'm wanting to do the rope mod on the sticks because I don't like the straps do you think it will work on the XOP like it does the lone wolf or will the different button prevent this modification

    Is the air raid the same weight as the alpha or no it says it's lighter on the spec sheet but just wanted some personal experience with the 2 from someone

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  7 років тому

      I'd say they are probably about the same. I don't have the Alpha though to verify, but they are probably close. The seat is much better on the XOP than the Alpha. I used a buddy's Lone Wolf Assault, which is a much more narrow platform, but the seat is the same, and my butt hurt within a short time, and that was an all day sit. So, by the end of the day man was my butt hurting. The XOP seat is thicker which is nice.

    Great information! Thank you! I was just wondering you mentioned you had lone wolf sticks before, would you prefer the xop sticks over the lone wolf's? Weight wise are they heavier or lighter and are they the same lengths? I'm new to this climbing set up and I'm doing some research before buying. It's great to gather people's experience with different brands. Thanks in advance and I have subbed! :)

      I like the XOP sticks when it is a closer spot to where I have to park. However, when I have a really long hike to get to my spot I will use the Lone Wolf though, because they are lighter.

      Determined Outdoors I've been doing research and was between the hawk and xop stands. Particularly the Hawk Xplor and the XOP Vanish. The deciding factor was that there isn't any seat/platform level adjustment on the hawks. So I'll be going with the XOP. Thou I am looking to pick up the helium sticks

    • @seansoutdoors

      Lone wolf was invented by a guy and manufactured here. The guy who invented it sold the company, then his son started working with the company that manufactured lone wolf but got hung out to dry by the people who bought lone wolf out. XOP is the name they gave their new business venture and they have been making stands ever since. And that is why they look like lone wolf.

    • @seansoutdoors

      I personally don't like screw in steps. If you do use them, make sure you take them out each year because when I was a guide in Illinois the outfitter left them in throughout the year and some would break and others would slip out on hunters climbing the tree when they had been in there for too long.
