The things you pay attention to shows me that you must be a music director! These nuances are very hard for most people to see, musicians are usually narcissistic ...mainly because of pressure and psychological issues. That's why leaders like you are so important to the success & longevity of our craft as musicians. Someone who's not satisfied until every other person can hear themselves on stage. Someone who cares that everyone is heard before they're heard. This was good, keep it up bro! Much luv from Nigeria!
This exact thing happened to me, where this guy I played with, he used me to play on his record. I didn’t think it at the time, I thought we were friends. It was my first time in the studio, and my only time in a recording studio. I thought he and I would play together for more than one record. But I was wrong. After the album was done, I had learned from a friend that the guy had been talking about me behind my back. And then, I hosted some friends, along with him, for a jam session. We then went to dinner where there was an Open Mic and he got up on stage to play. That’s when I got sad, because he played a song off the album that we recorded together!! Granted, he wrote the song, but it still hurt. But then I found out on Facebook that he had replaced me. That was when I got seriously hurt! One day, he came to my house and I asked him why I wouldn’t be on the next recording. He said it was because he liked to record with other people, and that I was hurting his feelings for wanting to know why I was replaced. Then, he started ghosting me!!! As a guy with autism and someone who takes friendship seriously, I was beyond hurt!! Suffice it to say, we aren’t friends anymore!!
Lol, I really like how you put this! "A slice of the arrogant pie" Classic! And you nailed it man...being aware that there is room to grow is everything!!
Great vid! I sang with a band a long time ago, and I know I had to have been seen as arrogant in some way. I was married to someone who was very controlling, so every single time we played a gig, I couldn't stick around for very long past our set because she insisted that we go home right away. That meant I was never there to help the guys pack up their equipment or do any of the other post-show tasks. I always felt bad, but when you're in a situation like that, what can you do? I don't know for certain if I came off as arrogant because of it, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if I did. In general, I'm very humble and I don't even like the spotlight LOL I just love to sing!
I just discovered your channel and I just want to tell you I think it is great and you are so on the money and kind about it, it makes it really easy to take your advise in!
Dude, when I had my first couple bands as a teenager, I micromanaged the shit out of everything! I wrote all the parts and wanted everyone to play exactly what I wrote. I was not a good band mate. Luckily I recognized this as I grew up and try to always mindful if I start trying to control too much.
😂 I raised my hand. I don't feel arrogant, but I'm sure sometimes it comes off that way. I always give compliments and say thank you. I just noticed that when I was really humble people were a little to quick to agree haha!

I just come across your videos today and I want to comment on this one to thank you how grateful I am to meet you even tho not in person 🙏🏽. Is like you talking to me directly 💯🫡🫶🏽 I’ve subscribed to your channel for more inspirations and advices 🙌🏾💪🏾
awesome video, great tips. i do consider myself egotistical, but try my best to keep it in check and use it to my advantage when necessary. have a great one!
Good vid! And I agree with all of it. Can't stand arrogant people and musicians and I try to stay clear of them if possible. Quick question, what is the background music in this vid?? It's pretty smooth.
Believe me it’s not confidence.. it’s a puffed up arrogance. I’m better than you without saying I’m better than you if your doing a fake hand shake, or smile. Then you listen to them and they suck..
I clearly am the opposite. I intentionally hire side folk who are better than me. So I often am seen as not good enough. I am plenty talented but perform beast when I have the team behind me. If I make an error, they are focused on covering and making the band sound its best. I never re-hire guys that give the “side eyes”. You can feel it on stage…. thier eyes are burning into my back…. often they have toured with so and so or they were in such and such one hit wonder band…. I am looking to them to improve the band.
You should really watch this video a few thousand times and take it to heart. But thanks for red flagging yourself-no one wants to be in a band with that kind of attitude.

Definitely have been egotistical and arrogant! It’s from insecurity. Most definitely benefited from this. Thank you I’m grateful 😊
It's very noble and self-aware of you to even admit this, as many people won't have the courage to do so! So, I appreciate you even sharing it!!
Preach it brother... Like Voddie Baucham says "If you can't say amen you can say OUCH"... Thank you
You speak so many truths. I love it.
You must be a pastor, band director, choir director or all of the above… ! Because you are identifying all of the check boxes..lol ! Great content!
Yeah I think it’s safe to say that we all have eaten a slice of arrogant pie lol. As long as we are aware of that, there is room to grow!

Now read what the Spirit said to the seven churches.
You can’t give compliments when they suck .. just be respectful. I’d help them get off the stage.. lol
😂😂😂
I don’t give fake compliments
If you're worried about covid maybe you should lock yourself in a room and shover from fear. Lol
