🚇 Bizarre Montréal Métro scenes during afternoon rush hour service slowdown - Wed., Nov. 22, 2023 🏮

- During the afternoon rush hour on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, one of the most interesting metro service disruptions I witnessed occured on the Organe Line of the Montreal Metro System.
As you can see, metro trains were entering Lionel-Groulx metro station very slowly and then sometimes suddenly stopping halfway into the station before resuming again.
Some then went onto manual control mode which then appeared to cause the white headlight and red tail light to blink on either end of the AZUR train sets.
In fact, this apparently was happening all along the Orange Line 🟠 in different combinations of either trains being placed on manual mode, or trains entering stations slowly and stopping halfway, trains having their headlights and tail lights flash or trains stopping for long periods of time at stations.
This seemed to all begin at approximately 5:20 PM or so.
The official announcement said that there was a service slowdown because of a problem with equipment on the tracks going in the Montmorency direction of the Orange Line. However, it seemed both directions were effected to work extent as you can see in this video.
I'm not sure what exactly happened, but there was no major service stoppage as a result.
The video they I filmed here started at approximately 5:40 PM Eastern Canadian Time on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.
We were on AZUR Set 67 in the video going in the Montmorency direction and get off at Georges-Vanier metro station. Then we were on AZUR Set 13 in the Côte-Vertu direction where we get back off at Lionel-Groulx metro station.
Note: I am supposed to be taking a break from getting content as I fight a respiratory infection, but this all happened on my regularly scheduled commute from work so I decided to film it anyway.
Thank you all for watching!
It’s because a failure on a track equipment. They turn the train in safe mode to bypass the problem. They run manually to prevent emergency braking in tunnel.
As well control center have to give them the authorization by radio before proceeding to next station. Probably a defect switch. So they do a fast stop at switch
Thanks for the interesting information.
I wish they could do that here in The Netherlands. Failing track equipment usually means that part of the network just goes down fully and you will have to revert to different modalities/routes if possible.
13:45 Announcement: Attention à tous les accompagnateurs de l'équipe dédiée, code 62 sur l'ensemble du réseau
English translation: Attention to all leaders of the dedicated team, code 62 on the entirety of the network
Thanks for that! I was trying to figure it out. I guess dedicated team meaning the team trying to fix the technical problem?
Lol
@@SkyOfTheUniverse Probably
Oh 😂
Hi pooches
12:07 the announcement said "un problème d'équipement sur la voie cause un ralentissement de service sur la ligne orange en direction Montmorency" which translates to "an equipment problem on the tracks causes a service slowdown on the orange line in the Montmorency direction".
Edit: I believe that it's a code 900-06 or something close to that. Although, code 900-06 is specifically a power outage, it's the closest emergency code to the announcement.
Yeah true. And no service came to a complete stop just a slowdown
it's so true. i listened again for the 51st time and I actually heard the words "d'équipements" whereas before I was hearing "une pomp-er-a-nique sur la voie" thanks for point it out. and then they wonder why we english complain when they don't repeat at least once in english?!
@@MrEthanhinesit’s Québec province and they got some history with anglophones.
@@Ile-des-Soeurs_Verdun i've lived here since 2011 i know the score; but my point is there's a huge difference between a "une pumpernick sur la vois" and "une probleme d'equipements sur la voie" which i swear i listened to the announcement more than 50 times i slowed it down i sped it up nothing to my ears sounded like equipment at all.
2 service disruption in one day i was here when he says 900-05 at lionel-groulx in orange line
It's a she
I got out of there just before this started happening yesterday evening. 😅
Oh lucky you
Wow
sur la voie = on the tracks
Patrick, are you OK? Patrick what is it mean blinking red light? What does it mean?
I think the blinking light mean that they are in manual mode
Yep I'm feeling a bit better and the red light means manual mode apparently
Interesting video. I learned something - I had no idea what the blinking lights on a train represented. Great video, as always. Nice to see you back on the metro!
I didn't know either. I wonder if they always do that when in manual mode
@@SkyOfTheUniverse Maybe it's just to warn the train behind it that it's slower than usual, a bit like how vehicles turn on hazard lights when the visibility lowers during storms on a highway.
what do you mean by manual mode? Is the metro automated??
I'm pretty sure it's semi-automatic so like you still need to have someone to close the door or things like start the train go in manual mode and drive the train
Yes what @nocontext211 said. Apparently the operator controls the doors and uses the switch to tell the train to depart the station. Once the train is moving, the train itself and control system control the speed, etc. When in manual mode, the operator controls the doors and train movement as well.
Hi sky! Im back lol. I remember set 13 has a special map in a previous video? Awesome video by the way
Thank you! Yes that cool map is gone now because it got replaced by the updated looking system map just released this year. That was interesting though
Yeah I remember in a video you were like I haven't seen set 13 in a while@@SkyOfTheUniverse
also, I film busses and subway now. Any tips on how to get better?@@SkyOfTheUniverse
I just subscribed to your channel!
@@AdrenalineLegends Yeah just have fun first of all and also don't be afraid of what others think while you film. Experiment too with the different cameras on your phone. Try side angle, regular, etc. Do narration sometimes if you like or just don't talk at all. Keep practicing
A problem equipment on the tracks
Yep
Not as bizzare as I experienced. Next metro train one time was a 43 minute wait (was a 7 minute one but because of a glitch it happened)
Wow amazing
13:45 is code 62. Basically is a code for all employees who in currently hearing this code to call in if they want to work overtime probably for maintenance considering the unusual light patterns on the azure lights
Thanks for the additional information! Interesting.
Won't it be too bad for Mme. Deslaurier when she's replaced by a AI that can pronounce french words slowly and deliberately.
Le service est rétabli sur la ligne orange entre les stations Henri Bourassa et Côte Vertu. Le STM vous remercie de votre compréhension.
@@davidthaler7018 I see someone's been to my Vimeo account 😁
all i heard was "sur la voie" aka "on the rails" so either someone or something is on the track edit: i listened to it at least 50 times and I think i can make out "une problem something something "en sous la voie" so that tells me there was something not *on the rails* but *under the rails*......
Yes I think you're right!
I think because of the presence of smoke at lionel groulx the train is in mode maintenance?
It was because of a switch problem on the tracks.
what is code 62?
Requesting the workers work overtime I was told over the years.
well we almos met that was my train. i was nex door to you you turned around so i didnt appear on youre vid ;p at 0:54
haha really :D
13:44 im sorry the akabagateurtechnikidekidé?
Yes idk whats that supose to be
Apparently they were saying "the dedicated team" so I assume this was a call to the dedicated team trying to fix the metro problems to work overtime perhaps.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@SkyOfTheUniverse no i think they are talking about the code 62 near the end of the video
Why
Problem with track equipment
I was on a train before this one and they did the same thing. I didn't understand why.
Something to do with a problem with the track equipment I am not sure of the details.
