This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. Who else writes and composes like this? This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I understand the loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. Her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.
I'm a grizzled old headbanger, 58 years old, been listening to Motorhead, Maiden, Priest, Sabbath etc for most of my life - but only Nightwish can do this to me, only they can produce such beauty.
Same here, 67 years old, Judas Priest, Dakken, AC/DC, Boston, Scorpions, Led Zeppline, Steppenwolf... and others! Nightwish is in a class alp by themselves!
My last grandparent, my grandmother, passed away in March -2 months after her 90th birthday. It's still incredibly depressing and a bit surreal when I tell myself, "I have no grandparents now". Half of me is expecting to be sitting in her house on Christmas eve by her fireplace and see her in her favorite chair surrounded by gifts. Everything about her was warmth and generosity. Hug your parents and grandparents everyone.
Who else but Tuomas and Floor could implement such a serious topic so wonderfully and sensitively? For me, these two artists are the best combination in music history.
Some days ago SHE had an interview and they were talking about emotions during singing I think...... There SHE confessed that SHE started crying during the takes of that song !!!!!!! I personally cant listen to it whilst driving ....too dangerous....... The GODDESS gets me every time SHE wants to........ No one else is able to implant such emotions to my soul than SHE does......
I purchased the CD the day it was released here in the US. It's brilliant, from beginning to end! And, done worry about crying to "LanternLight!". I couldn't attend my mother's funeral back in November last year. I have too many physical problems that kept me from travelling the nearly 550 miles from Austin, Texas to El Paso, Texas. I cry every time I listen to " LanternLight " and I am a grizzled, 6'6" ( 1.99 meters tall ) and an old, 67 years old, American Football player and weight lifter. But...Tuomas always finds a way to make tear drops roll down my cheeks! And I am a Hard Rock, Heavy Metal fanatic!
A beautiful song , Floor , Troy and Tuomas .... just 6 weeks after the birth of Lucy , We all cry with you and Floor . Greetings from NW army ... Sweden
Floor’s low register is so gorgeous. She carries such emotion in every single note …especially in a song such as this. I also love the very classical feel of the piano and strings in this song. Can’t listen to it without tearing up…only Floor (and the beautiful compositions by Tuomas does this to me) and I can’t get enough of it.
"It's nice to make your parents proud, but it's more important to make your children proud." I try to keep that in mind as I get older, because in the long run, the most we can hope for is to be remembered well. That's what this song - indeed, the entire album - celebrates.
I heard this song for the first time on the highway on the way to Epica - The Symphonic Synergy and my eyes got teary. I saw the video for the song for the first time in the queue before the concert and this time it didn't just stay that way. (I need tissues!) Floor has something in her voice that has a direct effect on my soul, no matter what she sings. But this song by Tuomas, sung by Floor... has more than one effect... it drills right into it. I can't really describe it... it hurts and heals at the same time. This song is sad and hopeful at the same time, for me the counterpart and completion of Our Decades in the Sun... a comforting farewell and a declaration of love from someone who is leaving, not to mourn because you never completely leave the world and you had a good life. At the moment I'm battling a potentially (not necessarily, the doctors are positive) fatal illness and when I heard it for the first time I thought, if I have to go, I at least want this song at my funeral.
I lost my mother 12 years ago this month..boy it wakens my thoughts of her passing, but truly in a beautiful way..she is all of that ..even now n still until we meet again. Beautiful beautiful song. Just found you n really enjoyed and was touch by your heartfelt reaction..I would love to hear the album with you n other Nightwish Army people
Pure Floor. I love this song. Btw, this song was Floor's pick for a single, it made her cry when she first heard it (I had the same reaction to this song, it's so touching). Tuomas lost his father a few years ago and he wrote this song out of that emotion. The message is to enjoy life, as it's beautiful and should be celebrated instead of grieved when it ends.
Wonderful deeply felt reaction, thank you very much. This song is my favourite of the new album. Floor said this song had been the hardest for her to perform because every time she started to sing she burst out in tears. Gone is the hurt, the wait, gone is the warmth of day. A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved, on into a velvety night, beneath a lanternlight. Last night brought the heaviest of snows melting the songs of old, tying the boat, write a new one soon, sending me to the drowning moon, far above a lanternlight. I'm in the light and flood, I'm in the four winds, I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems, I am the snow on your palm. I am the secret stream, moss beneath your feet, I am you who climbed off of my back not long ago, a sheltered song in a world now gone, petrichor, the timeless. Turn loose the swaying boat, meltwater, sound of spring. I hear our song now, sung by the free, for a thousand more tomorrows of an incomplete weave. To the meadows I go, I’ll be waiting for you once upon a lanternlight. I walk now toward the trees, I am the secret stream, the night falling at my feet into the forest of Yesterwynde.
This song is written by Tuomas, as a ode to hes Father that passed away in 2021, Floor sings absolute beautiful on this, and Troy joining at end, perfect!! I lost my Father 6 years ago, and my mother 5 years ago, listening to this, will bring me memories of them, and a song of sadness, beauty and hope at same time, its a song i would consider a masterpiece, love it!! This was the first song Tuomas wrote for the new album Yesterwynde
Tuomas lost his father who spent time with him also in that island on the video. Floor said that this was the most emotional song for her on the album to perform cause she knew the meaning.
Crying every time when listening this song, lyrics, vocals, orchestration, everything hits me in the feels so hard. Masterpiece! Thank you for your reaction and showing your emotions ❤
I have always thought that I was meant to be alive for a purpose, as when I was 22 years old, a Semi-Truck ran a red light and hit my pickup truck on the drivers side and destroyed my pickup truck. I spun more times than I can recall. The next thing I remember is helping a young woman, who was gripping her stearing wheel so hard, and crying, saying she just saw someone die. I comforted her and told her, "" I am ok." I then told her to go park her car and then I walked her into the nearby restaurant. She was holding me tight as we entered, and the waitress said she call the police and asked for an ambulance. I told her that I didn't need an ambulance, that I was ok! After the police interviewed me, one of the officers went and looked at what was left of my truck, and he commented that he had no idea how I managed to not get injured at all. There was no room in the cabin as everything was demolished...as I am 6'6" and about 280lbs. That moment changed my outlook on life.
This song is deep and touches me deep as well. It‘s about the ones we lost but who are not fully gone. I`m in the light and flood I`m in the four winds I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems I am the snow on your palm When even Floor has teary eyes while recording the video …
Thanks, Tauri for that heartfelt reaction, it was deeply touching. Ever since the first time I heard this song I've been waiting for you to react to it, because you and I have similar reactions to several songs. I would have to guess that I have watched this video close to 100 times now and I'm not going to lie, I tear up every single time. It is stunning on every level, and Floor certainly knows what to do to bring it to the next level. Wow. ...and yeah, if they do this live they better prepare for mass faintings.
Absolutely right - my favourite part of Floor's voice is that velvety lower register Not exactly death, but love - written just after his father died on 4th Feb 2021. My favourite track from the album.
124 Spider here. Tauri? You also make me cry when you cry. Even Floor cried on that beautiful song. Best reactor as always. Friendship Love from Portugal.❤🤘
Beautiful! You are very special in people's lives, and I include myself too! I have been following you for 10 months, every day, and what I observe about the band Nightwish is the effect that the songs produce on followers, through the composition of the lyrics, the harmony, the musical arrangement and today the surprise was no different, because I made 83 people at the premiere with you and the comments! I went to look for the lyrics of today's song, after watching the premiere! And he wrote another poem very well sung by Floor! Even in a more rhythmic song, which surprised me, Floor's voice enchants with the intonation, the vibration, the range, and the velvety tone that she produces! And that voice generates an extraordinary effect on emotions, giving us such charm in her expressions! Her eyes describe this whole range of emotion and even trying to hold back the tears, they come like a waterfall, overflowing with surprise and joy, because you didn't expect it to be like this! This view is surreal seen from here, behind the cameras! Just as it is surreal your reaction when he does the duet, just as it is surreal when she raises the note, just as it is surreal when he sings alone and Floor does the background vocals, just as it is surreal when the sound of the flute and the piano comes in together, just as it is surreal when you look at the camera, and in your eyes I see a feeling, a plea, but one that conveys serenity! Watching your reactions through your expressions is like immersing yourself in the music, in the melody, together with you! I love your reactions! I love your sweet way of listening and seeing the images that are passing in front of you! I love the way you give yourself when connecting with the music! I love seeing you through this prism, from this angle, from this moment! I love you beautiful! Your dedication to what enchants me and makes me get closer to you every day! I would love to give you an angel hug! The one in which the wings warm the body and soul! I will always be with you! A kiss on your huge heart! 💙🥰🙏 (This is how I analyze Tauri's reaction! English is not my official language, so I use the translator)
Yeah losing your last grandparent feels hard. I lost my last grandpa at the age of 95 a few years ago. It really felt like a period was over. My father said….now we are the oldest generation. That hit me pretty hard, but thats life ❤ Great reaction! Thanks!
Such a lovely reaction! You are one of my favorite reactors and my go to for all things Nightwish and Epica. Final song from the final album of the trilogy. It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. Loads of beautiful imagery in the lyrics of seeing the end, of reminding those we love that we will always be present, of lamenting the unfinished things we leave behind (as is always the case), and then walking "to the trees". Since Tuomas is famous for writing lyrics for multiple interpretations I could also see this song where the narrator is death personified, much like the way the lyrics in Music were. A third way I see it is that the lyrics aren't necessarily about a person but are instead a metaphor for humanity and our walk through the eons of our existence which would fit well with the themes of the album trilogy. A number of references to Auri and other Nightwish songs. "I am in the light and flood" and " I am in the four winds" IMO are shout outs to the Auri songs Light and Flood and The Name of the Wind, very beautiful instrumental that have a similar feel. For me the line "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me Decades in the Sun vibes and of course "To the meadows I go" is tapping into the same symbolism and meaning as Meadows of Heaven. Heartachingly beautiful song and a perfect bookend to the album and trilogy. A beautiful tribute to Tuomas's father and all that are the lantern light for our journey through life. I agree with Tuomas, if we have lived a life of joy and meaning then we shouldn't be sad at the end but celebrate a life well lived. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass. Does Tuomas have a deal with Kleenex?
Glad you are feeling a bit better. Ooh, album with the NWA, that will be awsome. This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing. Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song, the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover. Mmm, warmth of her voice, Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. The pocket watch to wind... Piano sinking in the snow and ice? The old style film projector, a "Magic Lantern". The old flickering movies, like memories. Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references? I am the snow on your palm [Storytime] I am the secret stream [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness] Moss beneath your feet [My Walden] I am you, who climbed off of my back [Decades in the Sun] Then Troy drifts in with his soft voice, he made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :)
I am so happy that you are feeling better and are back here. I was really waiting for your reaction to this masterpiece. You were the first to see that Floor was crying while singing the song and now your reaction makes the song perfect. I love you for that.🥰😍
I won't lie i couldn't watch lanternlight all the way threw the first time😢 I had to do it twice. Then you got me going a third time Tauri😭. Floor = amazing..
Beautiful composition with Auri Night 13 vibes another masterpiece written by Tuomas..Death is inevitable you cannot fear what is about to be!.Every breath we take has some elements of other peoples last breaths..!
Hope that you are feeling better Tauri. Amazingly Tuomas has said that this is not suppose to be a sad song, but a love song, a celebration of life and relationships.
I wish reactors didn't cry during this song as it always makes me well up and it's difficult to maintain my tough war veteran persona. Beautifully done. 😊🤘
I've dealt with existential angst since I was 8 -- 51 years now. Not all the time every hour of the day, but often for periods over the years. After my last significant existential crisis 6 or so years ago Ii managed to work through things and come to a state of grace. And it is along the themes you find in this song (and elsewhere--it's not an entirely new concept for your role in humanity). Part of my acceptance was immersing myself as Shopy, a site which catalogs photos of every day life from the past. I used to see such photos and get on edge, just seeing dead people. A harsh reminder of mortality. But by the end I could see my fellow humans, my people, my past and me their future and see a future beyond. Part of the stream of humanity. Both brilliant and beautiful and immensely important while at the same time ultimately insignificant--but that's alright. Once you make peace with mortality, it greatly simplifies life. Things that were bothersome but don't really matter actually don't matter any more. Those angsts and concerns become irrelevant.
Beautiful song! Floor has Nightwish covers in her solo shows, and I wouldn't be surprised if this makes it to the setlist at some point. I don't know if she'd perform it before Nightwish had a chance to perform it, though. Especially since it's a very personal song for Tuomas.
Hey tauri what a masterpiece album once again from nightwish. And as a new subscriber I would like to make a suggestion for nightwishes sister band Wintersun conicendtlly nightwish and Wintersun related their new albums this year. The song is Wintersun way of fire (4k made with lyric video with artwork from the time 2 album) from matti gridlock UA-cam channel. Nightwish has band members that are in wintersun and you have reacted to Wintersun before but it's been a while so if you read my comments send me a reply back. Thank you tauri Wintersun Alex ❄️♥️
Between this and The Warning's live videos of _Black_ _Holes_ & _Breathe_ at Pepsi Center CDMX, I seem to have been spending an awful lot of time crying lately. I reckon that's a good thing, though!
You have to react to Sissel Kyrkjebø performing "The Old Castle". She is the national treasure of Norway and her voice is gorgeous. Sissel performed on the soundtrack to movies like Titanic and Lord Of The Rings.
I agree with you about hearing Floor's lower vocals - always a joy. I especially love that screen we see behind her. I think that makes this even more emotional. (If you haven't heard the full album yet, you're in for an experience, rest assured.♥️)
@WardDorrity yes, you have to live life that way. Otherwise, what's the point? It's so beautiful!
Very well spoken
@@TauriReacts Thank you, Tauri. I've always felt that those who live without intent are lost.
@@diedzjeeoudshoorn7726 Thank you, sir.

Floors lower register just destroys me and I absolutely LOVE ❤️ IT!!!!
I have to stop watching this song!
But I can't and won't. ✌️
Who else but Tuomas and Floor could implement such a serious topic so wonderfully and sensitively? For me, these two artists are the best combination in music history.

Gone is the hurt, the wait,

I am you who climbed off of my back

Beautiful arrangement and song, a timeless classic that will live with us. Very thought provoking and emotional
Such a lovely reaction! You are one of my favorite reactors and my go to for all things Nightwish and Epica. Final song from the final album of the trilogy. It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass. Does Tuomas have a deal with Kleenex?
Wonderful reaction Tauri
Nightwish shorts: Lanternlight is actually a love song (by Tuomas) ua-cam.com/users/shortskQFEAiBmG6c
Glad you are feeling a bit better.
Ooh, album with the NWA, that will be awsome.
This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing.
Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song,
the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover.
I am the snow on your palm [Storytime]
I am the secret stream [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness]
Moss beneath your feet [My Walden]
I am you, who climbed off of my back [Decades in the Sun]
Then Troy drifts in with his soft voice, he made up the word,
so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :)
Wow...
Glad you are feeling better!.. and what a masterpiece this song is :) Thank you for this amazing reaction
Love how the album starts and ends with the sound of the projector 😊
And to think Floor added the lyrics only six weeks after having Lucy
I am so happy that you are feeling better and are back here. I was really waiting for your reaction to this masterpiece. You were the first to see that Floor was crying while singing the song and now your reaction makes the song perfect. I love you for that.🥰😍
👍👍😍😍🤘🤘
I won't lie i couldn't watch lanternlight all the way threw the first time😢 I had to do it twice. Then you got me going a third time Tauri😭. Floor = amazing..
This song had such an impact on me. Brilliant! As a person in mourning, I cry everytime. Thanks so much Tauri! 🌷 🌹🥀 💞💞💞💞🇨🇦
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 Great great job Tauri, what an amazing song huh 🎶🎼And get well soon, eh?

Dang it Tauri. I have listened to this many times by now .. but .. watching with you tears ..

Beautiful song! Floor has Nightwish covers in her solo shows, and I wouldn't be surprised if this makes it to the setlist at some point. I don't know if she'd perform it before Nightwish had a chance to perform it, though. Especially since it's a very personal song for Tuomas.
Great reaction 👍Thank you 😊
Hi Tauri Welcome back
Greetings from Finland 🥰
Tauri.....even a big, tall tough guy cries to this song!
It's actually a celebration song about a life fully lived, see short on a comment below.
@@PhilippeFuhrer-i9d yes, I picked up on that.
Tuomas wrote this for his father after his passing
@@jimharris367 such a touching tribute to a beloved father.
@TauriReacts it is, what it must be to have the talent to do this for your loved ones.

Play storytime Tauri , and your happy again 👩🏻🎤💖💖
Great reaction Tauri. Catch you also on Songs and Thongs.
This song might be my favorite song by anybody. The more i hear the more im amazed
❤🫂
I could imagen this in collaboration with Apocalyptica and Tuomas at a grand piano as a kind of acoustic version. 😉🤘

@@davemillet4160 The projected images truly do make it even more emotional, for sure.
Tauri, you have your tissues ready? 🌹🥲❤️
