I think some people don't understand that most Italians and Latinos are raised by their grandmothers even if you have a mom its alwaysssss more fun to be at Nonna's house or Mama's house its just more fun because of all the cooking and cause you just get soo spoiled. Most grandmothers in Europe or Latin America don't work so they LOVE to help raise their grandchildren and kids grew/grow up with all these memories and all this wiseness that can only come from grandma. I love this!
I love to see these videos, they put a smile in my face right away cuz they make me feel like home. Specially the part where youre filming at your nonnas house, the way she arranges her garden and stuff.... brings me to my home.
The environment and the family atmosphere is just like here in Greece!! I felt that when I visited Naples a few years ago, and there it is on the video!
I love taking a glimpse at your life and family, especially in italia. It's beautiful and you can just feel the love. I like listening to the Italian, I can sort of understand because it's like Spanish!
I love that you share this with us. I'm Spanish and I am living away from home and everything you and your family do reminds me of my family and I feel so homesick right now!!! Planning to take a plane back home at the moment!! Hahaha thanks Laura and Joe! You guys just amaze me!!
My family and friends would go to that beach for long weekends when we were stationed there in Napoli. Thanks for sharing, it has brought back many memories.
Hi ! Italy is so similar to Greece where I live . The streets , the beaches , homes and gardens even the one thing place!! I was born in Canada and came to live in Greece when I was 12 . Exactly like you , but the opposite ! Love your videos . Great couple . Have fun!!
It's truley amazing how much people freak out when they don't have any cell phone service! If I ever got to go to Italy, the LAST thing I'd be thinking about is the damn cell phone!
These little white flowers you're wondering about must be wild jasmine. You can tell from the sweet smell. In Crete, the Greek island, they're everywhere and the scent is divine!!
you are making me cry reminds me of my childhood home in Cape Town South Africa just as beautiful and my mom has an indoor kitchen as well as a outdoors kitchen. The food and the beaches are also phenomenal in Cape Town.
Thanks for sharing your Italian experience. It's was really beautiful. I always thought your husband would be some really old guy but he's young lol. Thanks for sharing a part your life her.
Laura, I cannot begin to tell you how much I love to come home and check my subscription box for your videos. I love them!!!! I love the Italy vlogs and it's funny when you and your family speak Italian and Joe is lost. :) I cannot wait for part 4!!
my oma, german for grandma, was the same way as your grandma. amazing cook and she had the biggest garden with every flower and fruits and vegies. miss her lots!!!
I ate plenty of gelato but not in Palermo. I stayed in Trapani while I was there. I'll be stopping in Catania for a night pretty soon though. I can't wait :)
hi laura& joe. thank u for all your vidios its great to see the dedication you have towards your cooking and your viewers, im really passionate about cooking too coming from gibraltar and now livinging in the uk i miss the meditarainian influenes, i noticed u dont often reply to comments and i cant say i blame u but im hoping u make an exception in my case. i would be so thrilled if u could dedicate a vidio for me on how to prepare ,,ravo de torro en salsa as every time i do it the meat come out hard. best regards, keith & ionela x
Laura, I'd love to see a video from you about wine - Italian wines, how you choose wine, pairing it with food - that sort of thing. Really enjoying your holiday vlogs!
You guys are soo cute. Your grandma's house reminds me of my grandma's. The outdoor fornello is so typical of there. I lived in Sicily for 13 years. I really miss the tastes and scents of summer! I too lived in a small town, avola, SR by the ocean. I miss the smell of roasted peppers cooking nda brace, the taste of fresh fish, the salsa di pomodoro made fresh with basil. Mmmmmmmm! I also used to love calyppo and Liuk the lemon sorbet with the licorice stick! I just love Italian summers!
Those white flowers look like a Nicotania plant (more like a climbing vine). I've seen it in red, too, here in Canada. It only likes the summer weather here.
the way u film its like youre actually there! i love it! Even though i live close to spain i still never enjoyed it like you did... would love to see spain the way u guys did!
The little white flowers are star jasmine...heavenly.. And Laura, you are so pretty without all the makeup...lose the makeup ! You are a natural beauty.
Your Nonna is just like my grandma, she plants everything in her garden, mostly herbs, spices like ginger, and fruits. Have a great day, Laura & Joe XOXO
And what little Island in the Caribbean would that be? Mine is the twin Island of Trinidad & Tobago; home of the steelpan, soca music and carnival. Not to mention really delicious multi-cultural cooking. Hi Laura, Joe and family! If I never hop on a plane to Italy I can still say I've been there :) Thanks for sharing.
Ohhhh!!!! I miss la bella Italia! I'm partly Italian, but mostly Spanish. I live in America too. I go to Italy every time I get a chance. I've always said I will retire in Italy. I wish I had contact with my Italian family, but don't know how to even start the search. Ciao Laura!
At 6:43 those are jasmines Laura ,my mom has a whole tree in her front door and smells like heaven, every time i smell that reminds me of the place i grew up!
It's really cool seeing part of your backstory & different side in contrast to your cooking vids. This was my favorite vlog of the 3 because it showed so much of your home life and how great it was to be back with your family. So sweet :) And I'm not even much of a seafood person per se let alone raw (lol!) but those mussels just sounded delicious! As a person coming from an immigrant family I'm curious--do you ever want to move back to Italy?
those white flowers that you donno about. well we pick the flowers buds from the tree the day before it blooms. put in a bowl of water for overnight and use them to flavour cakes and other desserts. From Maldives.
Lol Laura at the beach saying " I want my icecream now" and licks her tongue out..... soooo cute! Love to hear Laura talk Italian... Good job Laura and joe!
my mother's recipe look the very similar to your nonna's ones. she has an old cereal box in a kitche cupboard with recipes crammed into it :) whenever you say "nonna" I have to think of my late great-grandmother, she was German, but was called Nonna by her grandchildren, because she spent so much time at the Adria :)
In the small town in China where my family's from, everyone buys all their produce, meat and seafood from the market every morning with many vendors. In the cities there's supermarkets, many with more than 1 floor
I'm loving those vlogs ! Laura you look like your uncle Tony ! Btw, he has beautiful blue eyes, lucky him! :p can't wait for part 4 ^^ love from France !
