Psych evaluations should be done on cops every 6 months. As much as they deal with on the job and have the stresses of family life, it’s necessary (as any cop would say) for their safety as well as our own.

Oh my, a reasonable outlook! Yes, although many of the commenters on this video seem to want to place blame on the man because....well....he's a man, and therefore the villain. Yet, there is a chance that the woman was being verbally abusive to the man (she was the one intoxicated, whereas he was not). There is the possibility that the woman simply degraded him until he attempted suicide.

Nobody can possibly know the whole situation but I think going through the humiliation of being detained and handcuffed contributed to his suicidal feelings. Law enforcement interventions, while obviously necessary at times, often can only add to the stress, frustration and humiliation of a challenging situation and I think frankly we need to figure out better and calmer ways to intervene in nonviolent conflicts.

Regardless of whether or not it was “accidental," "negligent" or "self inflicted" don't give him back his gun and badge. And also, when an independent panel will begin investigating law enforcement domestic violence cases? Police can't investigate police, it has been proven. DO NOT let the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) aka Police union to get near his wife, they will try to persuade her to give different statement or story!!

I' am angry at the balls of this guy to do that with his wife there! Coward!!! Absolute Coward! People may get mad at my comment. And if that's the case be it. Anyone that commits suicide is a coward. Don't give me a song in dance about they are in pain or they have Mental health issues. I' am dealing with the Metal health aspect 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I' am trying to keep a person alive that knows better. And it has been stated not on my watch. But they have tried and worse. Which I don't want to give out details. People around them their loved one's and friends or relatives. Need to realize if it does happen it is not your fault that it happened but the person who did it. And if you are mad at the world or yourself take a break it's not that bad. Life is great and all you need to do is reach out and talk to someone. Because when your dead, dead is dead there's no talking anymore. If given the change to look down from heaven or wherever you go. You'd say how stupid you were to do it.

@@kevinmcboyle It seems that people conveniently forget that there was really no evidence that there was an attempted suicide. A couple of anonymous 911 calls about a man threatening to shoot himself, but nothing else. In fact, the wife's own testimony to the police was that she "didn't remember" her husband threatening to self-harm. Of course, the man himself said he wasn't going to hurt himself. The police had no other choice but to let the man go.
