    So what do you think about the new Sony 16 to 25 F2.8 lens? Is there a better alternative for you? Let me know down below!👇

      I have had the Tamron 17-28 for a while and keep thinking I am missing something. I have shot with the Tamron 20-40 and the 17-50 for an extended time. I am still not convinced that I am missing much for a short zoom. Now, we have a more expensive Sony option. If I had to pick the most versatile range and did not mind an f4 lens, I would go with a Sony 20-70 or the Tamron 17-50. We have so many choices now that it has become totally confusing!! I think it ultimately comes to the task at hand and what exactly the lens is going to be used for.

      @@bizpixvegas7651 I totally agree! Sometimes too many options make it hard to know what works best. I was even hesitant to get the Sony 20-70 f4 and thought hmm shouldn’t I just get a 24-70 or the Tamron 28-75? But then I decided the wide part I wanted for my videos on the vlog part since I use my 20-40 Tamron for that anyways so thought it would be good to go with the 20-70 to travel lighter how I’ve used it and love it!

      @@EasyTigerCreative For a true travel lens, I wish Tamron or Sony or Sigma would make a 24-120 even if it is F4. I was in Scottsdale, AZ a few days ago and brought my Tamron trio of 17- 28, 28-75G2 and the 70-180 G1 with me. I ended up using the 17-28 for 95% of the shots as I was doing mostly street photos and was looking for some funky angles which the 17mm allows. I used the 70-180 for a few shots and did not use the 28-75 at all! In the absence of a 24-120, I guess the 20-70 is next best thing.

      Something I am considering. I have tried the Tamron 20-40mm, f2.8, not good in the corners for me. Also, not Sony so focus is not as good as any Sony. I was considering the 16-35mm F4 PZ for the size and the internal zoom. I just don't know if I will miss the F2.8!

  • @Robert.hodgson

    I had the original GM 16-35 f2.8, as well as the Tamron 20-40. And I’ve also owned the Tamron 17-28 and the Sigma 16-28. I have the new 16-25 f2.8 and sold off both of those. The image quality from the G 16-25 f2.8 was significantly better than my original GM as well as the 20-40. I also shot side by side against the GM 16-35 v2 and while it wasn’t as good as that it was pretty close. And having shot with the 17-28 as well I can say that this lens in my opinion is a significant upgrade. I also don’t care as much about the missing more standard focal lengths as I do have the GM 24-70ii and the Tamron 35-150. You also get the extra bonus of not having you lens crippled with burst rates, and you have focus breathing compensation as well. So for me, I would recommend this lens (over pretty much all the others) to anyone who doesn’t need the 35mm reach.

      That’s awesome! I never got to try it out since I had gotten the 17 and 28 by Tamron and then I got the 20 to 40 so I didn’t necessarily have a need for that sigma but I did love my sigma 35 mm prime when I had it haha

    I have Tamrons 20-40 and 35-150. I think that already works fine. I don't mind not having extra buttons and switches just as long I can still control the settings somewhere else. Guess what, most of us are not going to lose much for the extra few seconds of tinkering settings. :P The zoom extension for the 20-40 is easy to manage in gimbals it's fairly light and compact. The Sony 16-25 is great, if you already have the money. Probably the Sony build quality is the main reason for me if I ever decide to get 1st party lenses. The Tamron zooms will seem to acccumulate a lot of dust overtime, I can already see some dust specs inside my 35-150 with about a year of use. But that's OK since, it doesn't show in the output yet and I guess it's something my local camera repair shop can deal with. 😅

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  3 місяці тому

      I totally understand that! The Sony line of lenses sure might have a little bit better quality so I can understand why people would want to go with that. But yeah, I honestly haven’t had any issues or dust with my 35 to 150 although I have heard others say that they might have gotten some dust in there, but it doesn’t affect the quality still somehow. But yeah, as long as I can use the extra controls within my camera and how I set it up I’m honestly fine not having those extra custom buttons.

    After watching Tony Northrups review of the 16-25mm i'm actually considering replacing my 16-35 GM with it. Optically the new 16-25 appears to be better than the GM and that's enough of a reason for me. I only shoot in the 16-20mm range anyways.

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  3 місяці тому

      That makes sense! If it really works for you and you’re shooting that range then it’s perfect nothing wrong with that! What type of photos do you do with shooting at 16-20?

  • @Mraz75
    @Mraz75 3 місяці тому +1

    Your arguments make sense. I don’t vlog. Thus i am ok with 20-70mm as it is first of its kind in zoom lens. The other is tamron 17-50mm, still short of 20mm at telephoto which provide huge difference in getting good bokeh at 70mm at f4.

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  3 місяці тому +1

      I definitely do enjoy the 50 to 70 mm range on the 20 to 70 even at F4 because the compression still looks great and if I need to add any extra blur, the Lightroom blur effect actually works pretty decently to add just a little bit more.

    Agree with all your points! At this price point the 3rd party lenses are still way more appealing to the budget aware consumer. The only use case I can see for this lens is people looking for a compact solution with that specific focal range and aperture. I'm sure it's a great lens, just not the kind of money I'm willing to spend as an enthusiast!

    • @EasyTigerCreative
      @EasyTigerCreative  3 місяці тому +1

    I currently have the ZV-E1 with the 20-70 and 50mm F2.5
    I want a more hybrid camera so I may upgrade to a A7CR and pair that up with the 16-25, 50 2.5, and possibly a 70-200 2.8 II. The 16-25 would work perfectly as a walk around video/ photo lens using the crop mode on the A7CR

    I think people are looking at the 16-25 all wrong.
    It's easy to want to compare it to the 16-35GM but, I wouldn't compare it to that. The weight difference puts them in different categories to me.
    I'd compare it to the 20G, or the 24G pancake lens.
    The 16-25 is just the 24G with the option to go to 16mm. It's incredibly small for a 2.8 zoom.

    I've seen more than one review of the 16-25mm f/2.8 that showed it to be sharper than the 16-35 G master. But that 9 mm zoom range seems like a joke. I'd rather just have a sharp 20mm prime.

    if you do low light and astro landscape, most of the time you pay for the GM or the G lens, because you lern to love this class of lens in post. but for the golden hour and brighter you don't really need this. the problem begins when you strech the image and you allready apply a lots of corrections then you have problems, an easy work arround is a fullframe lens on an aps-c body.
