    It’s amazing how most of the past photos look more beautiful even in B+W photos. Says a lot.

    What I find particularly fascinating is that many of the buildings decimated by WWII were repaired or rebuilt to look like the original! Dachau made me cry; what a horrible legacy.

    I never thought I would see a comparison of little ol' Lenexa, KS mixed in with these other amazing locations. Thanks for including a part of my home town.

    Some of the photos, the WW2 ones are epic. I'm thinking of generations knowing the a desolate town came alive after the war. A picture with war tanks during the war and one with a football pitch or classy town buildings.

    Enjoy the photos but not the funeral dirge. One notable thing: in the old photos you see people. In the newer ones you only see cars.

    I think the four guys standing at the corner of Burgundy and Toulouse Streets are Led Zeppelin. Left to right: Robert Plant, John Bonham, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page. If that's not them, they're their doppelgangers! 😊

    Main station Wroctaw 1938 and now: in 1938 the station couldn't have been covered in Nazi swastikas, since the Germans invaded only in 1939. Looking at the military personnel in the picture, the "1938" photo must be post-WW2, so 1945

    Rapa Nui is Easter Island home of the Moai- hundreds of monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people. Chile annexed it in 1888. I didnt know that! learn something new everyday!
    Morgan St and Columbia Blvd Hartford CT- thats a sad picture.. so far it's impacted me the most.. I can smell the old building smells and hear the people that frequented the establishments.
    Shanklin Village looks as quaint now as then! lovely little place!

    • @alexappp1
      @alexappp1 6 днів тому

      Another error is the nazi station in “1938” but the nazis didn’t invade Poland until 1939, so the pic must’ve been taken after 1939.

    The main train station "Then" photo is mis-dated. The date was most likely in 1940 after the Nazi occupation in Sep/Oct 1939 due to the ReichsAdler on the station front and Nazi flags.
