Back in the day I loved how people dressed sharply even the janitors wore suits and ties, chivalry, respect, decently was alive and well

I wish I lived during these times. I know I’d be dead by now but life was so much simpler back then, and peaceful. Oh well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I agree I'm 37 and I think this all the time at work. I know I just make envelopes for a living but I have pride in my work and I bust my a$$. And I really don't see that to often from anyone else.

You should be proud of what you did. Even thought you "just made envelopes", it sounds like you loved your job, worked hard at it and loved what you did. Not all of us can be brain surgeons. You made a difference in somebody's life. Thank you. @@jamescavanaugh1431

You probably would be dead then, too, thanks to all the illnesses without cures, high infant mortality, etc.

It must have been awful during the great depression, imagine the feeling when turning up to see thousands lined up to hopefully get a job. Being at the end or even in the middle would've been terrible.

What a brilliant video and at last the writing was on long enough to read unlike so many tv programmes, great photographs really enjoyed this video, one photo i thought was so beautiful was the photo of Doris Eaton Travis, you never realised that girls were so stunning way back then, this must be the best video of old photographs and the information that goes with them that ive ever watched.

if a cheeseburger cost 10 cents in the late 1930s, $1.15 in the late 1970s, and $10 in 2024. Does that mean a cheeseburger will cost $100 in the late 2060s-80s?

(At 17:00) bought that Weltron radio/8-track player in 1972 for $80 at the PX. I believe. Great radio and player. I sold it to another soldier when I left the army in 1973. I should have kept it.

18:05 - looks like the poor woman has bound feet where the toes are broken and folded under the foot to give her tiny triangular shaped feet! An excruciating practice started in childhood that made it so she could only take tiny steps, also showed she was high placed socially!
