Spot on on MLS George, that was a huge test that Palace game & he did so well. For all the fanfare & hype Nwaneri has had, this lad is just as talented albeit in a less glamorous position. That will actually help him with gametime though, as a left footer who can play both in midfield and at LB is incredibly valuable. We are so blessed to have both of them coming through at the same time!
MLS played DM/midfield at all ages, and you have to remember he's 18, but I think he can grow into our new DM juggernaut. To me, he has the perfect people to learn from as he has a little bit of Partey (forward runs/passing), a little bit of Rice (strength and reading of game) and a little bit of Jorginho (reading the game and passing). Personally I think he would be wasted at LB long term, in the same way Saka progressed, and think he will evolve into a world-class midfielder
Yeah, MLS definitely won't be LB long term. This is just so he gets first team minutes. Rice is the DM Juggernaut. Long term, MLS is replacing Merino as the LCM largely. With a shift or two at DM when Rice is out and we need physicality. And maybe getting benched when we specifically need an elite passer like FDJ/Doue/Nypan or Baena as a budget option.
@ yeah, the pivot options with Rice and MLS is just so exciting, and the fact that I think they compliment each others games and can both comfortably play either role is what could make it legendary
Havertz in midfield has worked several times last season and has always been useful for breaking open games that we dominated possession. It’s not necessary for every game but for games like Everton at home it is perfect for to get that extra forward on the pitch.
Why is North London Forever playing much closer to the kickoff now? It's awful and lessens the impact of it when the game is already playing when it ends. Plus you don't get the big roar once the whistle goes and the game gets going.
should buy Kudus I also think he could also play as a Left 8 next to Ødegaard which could allow us to create more chances centrally and unlock that left hand side.. and he could rest Saka and Ødegaard some other games.. would be a perfect signing.
I did some quick cross referencing, salah's goals and assists has earned liverpool around 27 of their 39 points this season. He earned them 24 for the whole of last season. For reference saka has earned arsenal 14. Palmer has earned something like 12 for chelsea. That is simply not sustainable or healthy reliance. Salah is incredible but it will bite them hard.
That is the end goal for all top teams. I would not trade the short term success of say United for our long term growth and building a team that can compete on all fronts.
@iRyanMal but carabao and fa are shit too 😂10 times worse than 4th place in the league in revenue and for recruiting purposes, how you people can not see that. it's you who has standards issues, easily bought on meaningless silverware. 2 second places are like sky compared to earth of shit cups.
Come on guys. It was clear palace surprised us with their press. Not about 'where we want to be', just a good coach from palace that went 4 the jugular when he saw the opportunity. And mikel kind of mitigated it a bit to push us thro' to halftime & maybe just like me was reluctant to lose harvetz but eventually had to choose one of him or partey.
@kunimitsune177 the system where Havertz plays as a roaming central 10 and then Myles (sometimes the LW) moves inside to the space Havertz vacated. Sometimes I noticed against Ipswich Myles moved into the 6 and Rice pushed forward slightly
Rice passing choices, are mostly first time wall passes towards the fullback. He faces our own goal, and then he would make one touch passes towards the side. Whereas Partey, he takes the risk to turn, facing the opponent’s goal, and then plays central passes to Odegaard if the opportunity is on. The only occasions that Rice would turn and face the opponent’s goal with the ball, is when he was level with our centre backs, completely outside the opponent’s shape, which he knows that there are no opponent players anywhere near him. Partey’s game reading and passing are levels above Rice. Rice just isn’t Busquets, Rodri, Fernandinho, FDJ or Kimmich. Even Jorginho and Merino are levels above him.
We control 70% possession against low block teams that we can’t break down. So 70% of Rice’s job is to be good on the ball. So that we can have better quality and quantity of possession, ball progression, chance creation, which would eventually turn into more goals. Defending is just 30% of his job. And what if we conceded a bit more because Partey is a bit less defensively capable than Rice? We have a good system to reduce that risk. And even if we concede 2 goals per game because of that, just let it be. Winning 5-2 is better than 0-0. It doesn’t matter if Rice could score 10 goals a season if our team is going to score 25 less goals in total because of him. Other than scoring the goal, Rice did nothing against Crystal Palace.
Why do we have all these questions and doubts about our highest paid player ? Kinda crazy that people secretly don’t believe he our answer to the CF position but also don’t think he can start 80% of games in midfield
What Jesus is showing now is why we should have bought a striker in the summer. If we had a player like this from the beginning of the season, we'd be a few points better off and closer to Liverpool. Even with the red cards and Oodegards absence. Hopefully, he can keep it up. But we still need a proper striker profile in the team. Someone who plays with delibrate goalscoring intention
Novody wanted to talk to Jesus when he wasnt scoring. Its not his fault. If the sun spoke to him 2 mobths ago he would say the same thing. All he can do is put in the work which he has been doing.
You can’t play a Tony Pulis system, spamming long ball and crosses, and then expect Messi to outmuscle the defenders winning aerial duels for you. Jesus has always been world class. But he can’t do much if he doesn’t have players around him to combine with him. He can’t do much if the tactics is so defensively focused. Jesus is world class, not because he is scoring or not scoring goals. It’s the fact that he can maximise the quality and quantity of our possession, ball progression, chance creation and therefore maximise the total number of goals our team could score. Because he is so skill move capable, tiki taka capable, with silky and tekky touches and close control, and with a possession loving mindset. Stop playing a system that minimises the ability of our technical players.
you keep saying Jésus, Sterling and Trossard as underperformers, but Martinelli is exactly in the same boat. Saka and Havertz have been our most productive forwards.

Agree, and even calling it Havertz in midfield is a stretch, he's as much a 2nd striker - a second forward as you say.
