This video is two children who don't realise how insanely talented they are. They don't even shave yet and they're sitting for a major interview. It's like two kids sitting at the principal's office explaining themselves . Australian 90s were the best
It came with grief though, mostly for Daniel. Kids waiting outside his school wanting to beat him up out of nothing but pure fucking jealousy. Horrible stuff. Fame and success comes at a price.
Got to remember they were about 14/15 here. Been confident in front of the camera is not easy for all teenagers. I would have wanted a few beers before doing an interview.
I remember when Frogstomp came out and everybody was talking about how young these lads were, it never shocked me, I must have been 13-14 years old. Now looking back now I guess it is fucking amazing, one hell of a record.
diablodiablodiablo I remember that too. I think I was about the same age. Although I remember being blown away at how good they were at that young age. There talent was insane. The third wave of punk killed them. Once I got into punk rock then nothing else mattered for a few years at least. Still like punk still but so much other stuff too
2am in the morning, this came on. I sat up. Kids my age making music that was way too good, too powerful, too melodic! Silverchair were a slap in the face. Pure talent! Frogstomp is an incredible album, any way you look at it!
@@alexfreeman7979 I've heard! I'm one of the most largest Nirvana fans! But... Daniel and his band were inspired by them! When it was 1992 and Nirvana was releasing their 3rd (compilation) album called "Incecticide", Daniel, Ben and Chris were only 14 years old, when they officialy call thier band "Silverchair" and start recording professionaly. And also they were only 14 years old, when they recorded most of the songs on the "Frogstomp" album, which is released in 1995. They were really young and didn't stop creating their alternative stuff, untill the first 3-4 years of the 2000's. After those periods, Daniel changed his style of "Alternative Rock" to "R&B/Coldplay", then the band break up in 2011. Daniel and his bandmates were really younger, then Kurt, Krist and the other drummers in Nirvana. Kurt had an awesome childhood, until the divorce. After this, his life turned into chaos for him and it was really stressful. And I know that Kurt had his own musical projects, before Nirvana like his first band, called "Fecal Matter" and some riffs, which he wrote on the "Montage Of Heck" album. But Daniel was much more underrated musician, and also he was from Australia, not from U.S.A, so Silverchair, wasn't that popular as Nirvana. And Silverchair were briliant and really succesful band, that contains three 13-19 year old members. The main differences are that, Kurt started with "Nirvana" at age of probably 20 years. Daniel started playing in "Silverchair" much younger, than him. And "Silverchair" is an australian band. "Nirvana" is an american. That's why they aren't that popular as Nirvana. So, I like both of the bands! They both sounds great! But, there are just some differences between them. 🙂
They tried to avoid it but the teen magazines in Australia always had silverchair in them. E.g. Smash Hits and TV Hits. It’s where I got their posters too. And no doubt girl mags like Dolly and Girlfriend that the girls bought.
@@MrZZsharka Yeah, there is only so much they can do to stay out of them. They couldn't really stop them, but at least they weren't encouraging it which is probably one of the reasons they got out of that phase of their career and stayed relevant
They not only had an amazing raw force in the music but an authentic grungy style i cant even explain. Seriosuly, Daniel Johns wearing that Sex Pistols shirt takes my breath away... And when I got Frogstomp 20th anniversary edition set and I saw the pictures of them wearing Ministry, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam shirts and when I saw the Tomorrow clip with these young teenagers waving their big hair I got daaam amazed. Seriously, Frogstomp is definitely my favorite grunge album by far
zights dude, im like the only one who dont see the relation. And i know thats weird because everyone does. In my opinion they sound much more like ratm, black sabbath and helmet than nirvana
Watching this interview brings me back. I was about the same age as them when they hit the scene and I became a fan of their music but I don't think that I really appreciated them as much as I should have considering how young and talented they were. They were definitely one of the more underrated bands of the 90s.

Very smart to turn away the teen press. Being branded as a "teen act" would have immediately stamped them with an expiration date.
