Fishing off Perths' Seaside Town Fremantle our target species was Whiting, although was prepared for the highly sort after Sport Fish, Australian Salmon.
With a bit of fresh burley from Billy all hell broke loose..SIT BACK AND ENJOY!

Had me laughing from the start with the young fella putting "Burley" into the water.

The InDOMitable Dom takes his nephew Billy for a fishing session. Billy was very enthusiastic & quickly took on the task of attracting the fish. Technicolour yawns with excellent sound effects did eventually work. But not before Dom got spiked by an angry flathead. From that moment on Dom was fishing one-handed & letting us all know how painful it was. Some lessons learnt there I think. Salmon came to the rescue & Billy volunteered to vomit yet again. Several good salmon were caught & all but 3 were released. Billy fished with lures while Dom used dead bait. Billy's fishing style was fascinating to watch. Never has a man struggled so much to bring in a fish. Dom's mentoring would have been helpful. After a return to home we were treated to a Salmon cook up. I'm devastated. My kayak is stuck in garage waiting for a trolley that has gone missing in the mail. Damn. Thanks for sharing.

Your expressions had me cracking up with Billy being sick. Man it was too flat to be sick. Then that insane action turned on and Billy perked back up!!! Wow that day turned around. What a beautiful looking fish.

We both were a bit green that day due to the swell and our first time for awhile. Hes very keen for our next trip 👍🤙

Hey Dom, if you happen to get spiked by a flathead in the future rub where you got spiked on the flatheads stomach. The mucous is supposed to ease the pain.

Nice on Dom. Get some of that 'travel calm' for the young bloke and get him to have it before he gets on the boat. It does work. One other thing mate when ya get spiked hot water is the go but yeah bit hard if you havnt got a thermos on board. Worth remembering if you cop a gurnard or scorpion fish. This was fun!!!! 👍🏻

Great work Billy, it's very considerate to burley up the water when you first get to your fishing spot and you did it well. In-fact you sound just like me with the puke volume. Hey Dom, how long did it take before the pain started to subside from the flathead stings?
Lol..he did well. The pain is usually short lived but multiple stabs on the same area lasted at least 45 min...very painfull!

Billy is fishing cross handed. Your strongest hand should be on the rod, and reel with the other.
Change the handle to the other side.

We used two of them, the big one was a bibbed big heavy lure, and the other was a Rapala Bibless single hooks.
