Yeah my partner is latvian his mother came here back in mid 2000s because of a terrible economy she found a job and worked her way to getting accommodation for her kids to join her , they have always been so respectful and supportive of irish people and also get the same issues we have to deal with regarding health care and accommodation etc. Which is why I have no problem with people moving here who purely want to work for a better life with no disrespect towards us

This was a great interview! Not all migrants are the same. This gentleman really seems sincere & has no desire to get over on anyone. He was trying to protect his family. I see what I guess are Ukrainians in my local Lidl helping themselves by the look of it. Yesterday a tall fighting age lad wandered around for ages no basket just a haversack. Around a month ago security notices appeared in various sections such as meat.

Niall, I appreciate you having this discussion. I can understand this mans perspective as a Ukrainian Nationalist and its history with Russia. But it would be good also to hear too from someone from the east of the country. The previous conflicts he spoke about were all NATO/ US interference. NATO has trashed and destabilised so many countries and as a consequence driven many of these people to emigrate. Just look at the list, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia, Sudan....now Gaza, next Lebanon and Syria again. One would think there was a plan to destroy these countries and force people into Europe to destabilise us in turn.....oh wait there is such a plan. People need to understand who are the real drivers of this whole mess....the ones you cannot talk about.

People need to check out the "Project for the New American Century" established in 1997, and the countries listed for "regime change".
Or check out the "Bank for International Settlements" founded in 1933 by JP Morgan and other private bankers, who are based in Basil Switzerland but are effectively a separate state with diplomatic immunity etc.

I would like to put something in perspective in defence of this individual.
For most peoples who never have experienced combat i suggest to go paintballing for once in a forest. You will be stunned and surprised how quick you get shot and killled. It takes minutes.
Now, imagine in a weeks or months time the political situation changes, treaty gets signed and shooting stops. Doesn't that make those killed look foolish? Its brutal how politicians start a conflict that civilians need to resolve and by resolve i mean shoot each other.
If this man, in few months can go back and live unlike probably his brother, i can see the point of his escape.

Is he really contributing? Many immigrants are on low wages so they pay little or no tax when you take the PA into consideration. Many are also getting in work tax credits and other benefits. When you work it all out they are costing the Irish economy not contributing to it.
Good on them. It being better though, that they contribute to the good of Ukraine. I'm sure that there's plenty they could be doing over there.

Well I work in an industry that wages are being driven down in by mass immigration from Eastern Europe. I'm not asking for much, just a decent standard of living. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs and we both work in our house, we only ask to be able to go on a sun holiday to get away from the rain for a week or two, things are extremely tight and they shouldn't be. Farmers are being attacked and have been for years, they're only realising it now.
Now we've more fellas and women from Eastern Europe (Ukraine) to accelerate the process.
My own employer and I heard another employer in the industry specifically say that they will replace Irish with Eastern Europeans rather than give a wage rise.
I don't blame the eastern Europeans, they shouldn't be allowed here, I blame the politicians and their wealthy, crony buddies.
As an irish eldery irish living abroad and homeless I'd be over the moon with a caravan or a stable tent back home all ye need is warmth and be able to wash oneself and a nice bed

in all fairness we accepted 300,000 Ukrainians in Slovakia and we are roughly of the same size and population as Ireland (we don't have so massive housing crisis as in IRL)
