Nerdy facts: 1 Lay spent about 1.4M USD for this MV from his own pocket 2 Lay promotes his own genre called M-pop, basically a fusion of Chinese trad music with modern music 3 Lay made a lot of beat (he's a beatmaker), and I notice he loves trap a lot, like A LOT 4 Lay made his music to introduce China's music to the world 5 There are about 300-400 casts on the MV 6 The MV has the starting storyline for his songs in this particular album. It centered around a classic, about a warrior called Xiang Yu (who fight alone because people are turning their back on him) and his beloved concubine (who kill herself after Xiang Yu was killed) 7 Lay did a lot for this MV and album. If you see the credit title, you will find him as a lot of things, from executive producer to writer 8 Lay and his crew learn krumping from a world krumping master for a month just to dance in the MV.
Add the fact that the studio he used was the worlds largest studio too.... just a fun fact but his level of deligency is not a joke so let's put this up too....
M-Pop or Mando Pop is already Mpop before there was KPop. It's not Lay's own. Other artists before Lay had been advocating promoting Chinese Culture world-wide. Lay is just the most famous of the younger generation who's promoting Mpop to the world
Woowww that's insane😫😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 i don't like Chinese language but now i dooooo😂 lay made it sooo sexyyy🔥🔥😈 the whole mv is ....no word to describe how good was the mv✋periodt. Ps: my mouth was wide while watching this masterpiece🤤🤤🤤🤤
Lay is the king. The king of M-pop, he’s a legend in china he’s the idol number one his 100 billion views on weibo is a proof of his success. I’m so proud, he’s so original, succesful and rich but yet so so humble he take time to watch reaction video like you to have feedback
As a curiosity, guys, Yixing is the best dancer in exo, at least in technique terms. He is soooo underrated for his skills. He is a beast with a impressionable body control. Kai is just, you know he really is The Dancer but Jongin in able to be the best center in the kpop industry. They both are insane dancers but I wish Yixing could be recognize as much as Kai, because talent, as you can see, he got Zhang Yixing is the top of the top in China. He is the face of his own country and his popularity and exo's popularity is the main reason why exo got the chineses market. No one can take this from them
I love Kai but I agree. Lay is much diverse. He learned from experts. The fact that he learned Krump in just 6 months speaks so much of his talent. But when it comes to charisma, Kai have it. And center position of Kai isn't the one you anyone can have, he is blessed with so much charisma. Its only his.
Both are great dancers equally. Both are the best dancers of EXO. They have different styles though so its a matter of preferences to people on who they like more. As for me, there are times I was so amazed of Kai and there are also times I was so amazed of Lay. Love them both. No wonder these two are my biases.
I totally agree with you guys, Lit is not exactly a bop (and I’m sure that’s not what he intended it to be, he released ‘Boom’ soon after Lit to show us the definition of a bop). He mentioned how he wrote it to particularly pay tribute to traditional Chinese music. But like Zak mentioned, knowing Lay’s previous work, this video was such a powerful statement about who he is artistically. The line “taking China to the world” was enough of a statement to make this mv a solid 100. Also side note but I got so excited when your reaction dropped I spilled my drink. Thank you for this lovely content!
I think this is a bop, I listen to it all the time, especially to hype myself up! Lay is the King of China for a reason. Also a little background Lit(Lian) means Lotus. He basically is using the mv to talk to his h@ters who call him a white Lotus(in a derogatory way). So he took the name and gave this Huge Power Move of a mv to say yea he is the Lotus, so what? If you listen to the whole album there is a song called Love Lay that says the Lotus grows from the mud. He's basically showing how his roots and how hard work made him who he is. I love him so much, he deserves more than the Whole world!
This mv costed like 1.6 million dollars which he paid for himself! He such an amazing artist!❤ Please react to Everglow La Di Da and Treasure I Love You!!!
Lit had to grow on me. There's no denying that that mv was pure art and lay is just unbelievably talented but first listen I wasnt sure how I felt about the song it self. It was a bit jarring. After watching it so many times tho, I've grown to love it! Its definitely playlist now!
khadijah really speaking ON IT especially with the way asians are represented and yeah it is clicking in my head how strange representation temds to be more in a entertainmemt or cartoonish aspect than a living breathing person? gosh that was literally so cute reaction, had no idea khadijah was also mixed with indian and chinese💗 theres a lot of artists who are half black and half asian i realize in western media that standout like H.E.R, Anderson.paak, Amerie and UMI who probably in western media only view them as "black artists" exclusively when they also share the best of both worlds and its beautiful! as a chinese person seeing lays mv i was definitely shook 👁👄👁 it was a s t a t e m e n t I checked out his album rn on spotify and the ENTIRE thing has NO bad song ita actually really good
@Death,the Asian Chick Is a Bro Sadly there isnt many eastern dragons to reference but i love them so much 🤧 I only know mushu, haku from spirited away and Roku's dragon from avatar the last airbender
Yes Khadijah, Gurl he came to represent and killed it!!! He made everyone proud, from Xbacks(His fans), ExoLs and most especially China itself!!! I love songs that represents artists origin
Not gonna lie, that song is not really my cup of tea, that said... DAAAAAAAMN was I hooked the entire video. The visuals and choreo are freaking stunning and you guys reactions are so funny and informative, I love the way you all talk about the details of the MVs you react to :3 In case you're taking requests, would you react to Pretty Please - Jackson Wang and Poison - GOT7 (Studio Choom)? Thank you very much!
I get really pissed off sometimes cause lay deserves so much more attention the boy's a freaking living MASTERPIECE! According to me Lit should win a Grammy i mean look at those visuals and his voice gives me goosebumps every time and those dance moves😳😍 thank you so much for reacting to him he deserves more love......proud indian Exo-l here💕💕💕
Lay had my jaw on the floor 😭😭😭 i legit love him so much and the fact that he doesn’t even like dancing he just does it because he said it’s necessary to spread his name he is legit one of the best dancers in kpop. Hes so humble as well.
really enjoyed the reaction guys ❤️ also lay took lessons for months from some of the original krumpers for this choreo, lay rlly does the most and kills it every single time
The story in the "Lit" MV, Lay said, is based on his favorite Chinese historical figure. In the MV he is portraying a Chinese general who has been trapped by the Han soldiers while trying to rescue his wife. The general is a real historical figure named Xiang Yu, who fought in the battle of Gaixia. In the beginning of the MV you hear a Peking opera singer performing “The Song of Gaixia” which is a song that Xiang Yu composed for his wife, Lady Yu, who eventually took her own life. (Fun fact: In Lay's song "Jade" which is a song also on this album, the story is supposed to be about Lady Yu and Xiang Yu's love story.) Everything about this song and MV is a poetic, cinematic masterpiece. For example, the word Lotus in Chinese sounds a little like Lit in English. (Another play on words, just like the Chinese pronunciation of Jade sounds like Yu or you in English, which Lay cleverly used in his song "Jade." Get it? Jade = Yu and Jade = you.) Lay used lotus (Lit) as a metaphor for no matter how hard people try to bring him down, he will stand strong and survive through anything the world throws at him, like a lotus flower. The Lotus often represents purity. The Lotus is special because it grows in the mud, but out of the most dirty and unforgiving conditions, blooms one of the most beautiful flowers. The Lotus is a famous symbol in Chinese culture and it often represents how something good and pure can grow and triumph despite what you would think are unforgiving conditions. Lay has said that the idea for "Lit" comes from the fact that his haters have been calling him "White Lotus," which refers to someone who acts innocent, and uses it for his gain and plays the victim all the time. So when he wrote the song he took that negativity and embraced it and turned it into something positive. So, in other words, he is saying: "You thought you could bring me down, but you are wrong. I am not a fake white lotus, but I am a true lotus who is LIT. I am more powerful then you know and I will rise above all your negativity and show you how I grow even stronger and more beautiful no matter how much mud and dirt I have to go through," etc. The dragon is a very powerful symbol in Chinese culture and it is even said that if you are Chinese you are a descendant of the dragon. Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize vitality, strength and good luck. In one interview I read, Lay also talked about how he has two dragons inside him -- a good dragon and a bad dragon. He said he always chooses to listen to the good dragon. The good dragon is the one who is protecting him and helping him through all his hardships and difficult times. So the main theme of "Lit" is about fighting his inner self and learning to ignore and overcome the people who are trying to knock him down. Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member and one of the main dancers of the super famous Kpop group EXO. And, as you can see, he is also a very famous solo artist and dancer in China and internationally. He has also been given the title as China's national producer and youth ambassador by the Chinese government. Lay is is a singer, rapper, songwriter, composer, producer actor, director, editor, dancer, designer, etc. -- genius -- and with every new release of his, he just one ups himself. And "Lit" is a prime example of that. As you noticed, if you study the credits, you see that this MV was produced by Zhangyixing Studios, which is named after Lay -- he owns the studio. So, the credits show, Lay has his hand in almost every aspect of this production. It's his name you will see dozens of times in the credits. He is the one that wrote and composed the song, he even produced the beat himself. He is his own beat-maker. He is also executive producer, he came up with the storyline, he helped choreograph and he helped direct the MV, etc. But that's normal for Lay's solo work With Lay, when you ask who did it? -- for any part of the song, MV or choreography -- you are pretty much guaranteed that the answer is: Lay. He does it all. He is such a perfectionist that there is almost nothing that he is involved in that he doesn't have 100% control of himself. He prides himself in the fact that all aspects of his music are created by him. This MV took more than 6 months to make and more than $1.2 million to produce. And it was all done by Lay. They actually filmed at one of the largest and most well known film studios in China. What you saw was the real temple. No Screenshots. The dragon was CGI, but the rest of the set is all real. You should really check out the making of film ua-cam.com/video/x_K39ntCEXw/v-deo.html and Lay's dance practice for "Lit." ua-cam.com/video/9Yefy6iw0As/v-deo.html to really see how things were made.
Lay learned Krumping for 6 months! He wanted perfection for this and he came through with it. I appreciate your honesty tho. It may not be a bop to listen too but I'm sure Lay will impress you guys next time.
The reason why you guys are the best you guys are genuine when reacting and I've seen many reaction they just pause or stop the credits but you guys are the only one who wanted to see those Damn I don't knw how many times I mentioned to react to lay you did finally and I literally for goosebumps when I got notified ...... God bless you guys .......
Khadija you are my Queen now, you always LOVE EXO and that is the thing im living for :) I respect to the rest tastes and i was just like that when i listen to the song for the first time, but i put on my playlist cuz that was LAY! And now i can see i didnt make a mistake cuz im addicted to LIT Tnx for your nice reaction 💛
I love this mini-movie from Lay. The opening reminds me of Jet Li’s Hero. It’s based on the story of a legendary Chinese Emperor. Don’t be surprised if you show up in a Lay video as he watches all reactions to his mv’s and picks some to include in a “Lay Reacts to Reactions” vídeo.
yes i was waiting for this!! i loved the cinematography and the first time i watched it i had to rewatch because the dragon alone was amazing!! and omg you guys especially khadija HAVE to watch Lose Control i believe it was Lay's first solo, well album i guess but YEAH
The Chinese title is "Lien" which translates to "lotus", hence all the lotus imagery, which I'm sure Lay is using visual metaphor for him "blooming" or rising to success despite the "mud"/different obstacles he's faced in his career.
no is not about him showcasing his success of his careers. he is attacking his haters that they nick name him as ‘lian’ which mean lotus in chinese - the modern slags words for lian are referring someone look/act innocent&pure but inside they are not what they looks, saying he is fake basically. so the meaning of lotus in this MV have two meaning - 1. lian pronounce like Lit in english, he use double meaning in same word, so he saying oh you call me lian, well look at me now, i am lit. the song lyrics/rap are replying to his haters if you listen to it carefully or read the lyrics some part he said lit but some part is lian in chinese. fyi couple years ago he won acting award and he got emotional and said although he won acting award he would like people to listen to his music and he dream were to take the music to the world one day, this is happened before his first album lose control release. the haters mocked him and laughed at him on that particular incident saying that let’s concentrate successful in your own country let alone taking your music to the world, his big ambition will not come true. so now with this song he reply to the haters ‘ music is my arena and i will take china to the world’, ‘i am the (music) king, kiss my ring’ 2. lotus is flower that chinese cultures use a lot throughout history for religion and philosophy, is represent a person diligent and pure heart no matter how bad the environment they still survive, grow out from dirt as a elegant and beautiful human being like the lotus. the song has a lot of metaphor and hidden meaning- for instance the big drum is a drum back in the days they used to play during the war battle, signal of flighting, he added the drum beat in the song. the witch present his haters, the dragon is represent his fan xingmi / Xback.
Lay is just everything you want from an artist. He got it all! Thank you for finally reacting to LIT. I hope you could do more Lay. He has a lot to offer. Give Me A Chance, Namanana, Lose Control, Love You More, Sheep and a lot more.
As soon i sae notification pop ...i left everything ...finally i am happy seeing uou guys reacting to this (i enjoyed seeing all are suprised ...stay healthy !!:)
I was literally crying while listening to Khadija, it makes my heart so warm when people appreciate Lay’s work, he’s such an amazing and talented guy, he deserves literally everything. I loved your words Khadija
I’ve been waiting for this reaction and it was great! I playlisted Lay - Lit the second the song was over when I heard it the first time. I understand why some people wouldn’t make it a playlist since the song it self is great but the MV is what attracts most people. I, however, loved everything from the song to the MV. I hope Lay keeps getting the recognition he deserves. ♥️ Lay alongside Suho, Baekhyun, D.O. And Chanyeol are my biases “Yes all 5 lol”.
@@rubysilva4747 opp- I meant it's not an 80s inspired song but an actual 80s song. Lol. I actually stan the girls, personally think it's their best song. Never had a miss as far as I'm concerned. Sorry if that sounded like hate🙊
I'm so glad you guys liked this. He and Jackson really like to put their culture in music. Also, the choreography for this is in krumping style. He's been really interested in Krump lately and has been learning it diligently that he has become REALLY good in this style. I love it when he is in to something he puts his 100% ALL IN. LOVE YOU GUYS. ALSO PLEASE LISTEN TO SOME OF HIS OLDER STUFF ITS REALLY GOOD WELL EVERYTHING HE PUTS OUT IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!!! :)

Lay learned Krumping for 6 months! He wanted perfection for this and he came through with it. I appreciate your honesty tho. It may not be a bop to listen too but I'm sure Lay will impress you guys next time.
The reason why you guys are the best you guys are genuine when reacting and I've seen many reaction they just pause or stop the credits but you guys are the only one who wanted to see those
Damn I don't knw how many times I mentioned to react to lay you did finally and I literally for goosebumps when I got notified ...... God bless you guys .......
This man works so hard, he deserves everything.
Khadija you are my Queen now, you always LOVE EXO and that is the thing im living for :)
I respect to the rest tastes and i was just like that when i listen to the song for the first time, but i put on my playlist cuz that was LAY! And now i can see i didnt make a mistake cuz im addicted to LIT
Tnx for your nice reaction 💛
I love this mini-movie from Lay. The opening reminds me of Jet Li’s Hero. It’s based on the story of a legendary Chinese Emperor. Don’t be surprised if you show up in a Lay video as he watches all reactions to his mv’s and picks some to include in a “Lay Reacts to Reactions” vídeo.
Please react to JACKSON WANG HUNDRED WAYS AND PRETTY PLEASE you will surely enjoy!!
yes i was waiting for this!! i loved the cinematography and the first time i watched it i had to rewatch because the dragon alone was amazing!! and omg you guys especially khadija HAVE to watch Lose Control i believe it was Lay's first solo, well album i guess but YEAH
I’m desperately waiting for y’all to react to Taemin - Criminal And SuperM- Tiger inside :’(
LAY❤
@@huongtran-wl6iz thank you!!! Well said!!!
Thank you, Khadija, for enjoying Lay representing Chinese culture and mentioning your Chinese pride!

He spent 1.4 million dollars for this mv..from his pocket
Love from India ❤️🇮🇳
I’ve been waiting for this reaction and it was great! I playlisted Lay - Lit the second the song was over when I heard it the first time. I understand why some people wouldn’t make it a playlist since the song it self is great but the MV is what attracts most people. I, however, loved everything from the song to the MV. I hope Lay keeps getting the recognition he deserves. ♥️ Lay alongside Suho, Baekhyun, D.O. And Chanyeol are my biases “Yes all 5 lol”.
Reaction to EVERGLOW " la di da" , please!!!!

A whole 80s retro song. Not even inspired
@@musaviki783 well, everyone your opinion 😁

I'm so glad you guys liked this. He and Jackson really like to put their culture in music. Also, the choreography for this is in krumping style. He's been really interested in Krump lately and has been learning it diligently that he has become REALLY good in this style. I love it when he is in to something he puts his 100% ALL IN. LOVE YOU GUYS. ALSO PLEASE LISTEN TO SOME OF HIS OLDER STUFF ITS REALLY GOOD WELL EVERYTHING HE PUTS OUT IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!!! :)
