This is some pretty good research, just a couple notes. It’s Deutsche Mythologie… Deutsche meaning German. Adult Holtzmann was a German writing about German mythology. There’s a correlation between Easter and the month Eostre because what is known in English as Easter is specifically linked with Passover (this year being one of the few years they aren’t overlapping) and people tend to syncretize their cultures into the new religion to preserve them.
Yup, slip of the tongue. Even though the Netherlands was part of Germania Inferior until the 15th century, I always confuse the two. And yes, Easter is about the assimilation of older traditions which was my point. Christians believe Easter was completely invented by themselves.
