- This will be a month of livestreams focused on OUTLINING our novels! I'll prepare a ton of helpful questions and explanations beforehand, and each week we'll go over different parts of novel outlining in depth, using my "butter book" idea as an example. The very first livestream will also be a much lighter version of outlining for the people who prefer "pantsing" or "discovery writing" and less outlining. Wow, this sounds so fun! I'm always interested in a "behind the scenes" look at how authors work, and also collaborative storytelling as a whole, so this is right up my alley!!! Also, I purchased Save the Cat Writes a YA Novel in September (already had the "Writes a Novel" version for a few years) to see if it would help me plot my NaNo book, so this all lines up nicely. I'm SO in for this!!!

Gosh, I cant wait for this, Bethany! Friends meets ACOTAR sounds so fun! Kinda reminds me of my WIP which I pitch as, "If Gossip Girl were anime".
Plot is my weakest area and I often go over you and Brittany's STC Writes A Novel playlist as well as your outline video featuring STC Abbie Emmons' 3 Act Structure to get guidance.
I'm so excited and sincerely hope I can make all of them. Hopefully none are 8pm AST because that's when I have to get my 5 year old nephew to bed (he's finally started big school).
But even if it is, there's always the replay. We shall see :-)

I’m so excited for this project and I’m definitely in! I’m a huge FRIENDS and ACOTAR fan so this is going to be very fun. (I may be leaning a bit more on the ACOTAR side, but both are great ;D) Can’t wait for the livestreams!

I love this idea! Though just a tip, if you’re thinking of comping with acotar just make sure to clarify everywhere that it’s NOT spicy (which I think is great that you’re not going that route, because spice/smut does not belong in ya imo) since I feel like a lot of people will assume there’s spice if a book is comped with acotar you know? At least, that’s what I always assume unless states otherwise😊

@@BethanyAtazadeh I was thinking cruel prince as well, but if it’s just the fae that’s similar and the vibe is more like friends then you could probably just go friends x faeries (like you might not need a comp book at all and just focus on marketing as friends but (insert tropes, genre, themes) if you get what I mean?)

Oh wow - the timing for this is so perfect! I'm finishing drafting my WIP over October on weekdays, but weekends are my time to work on othr projects (especially during football season:) I decided since I'll be entering third trimester exhaustion in November, so for NaNo I'll be a "rebel" and be doing outlining for multiple projects anyway. And if I have the first of those projects all mapped out first, that leaves me more time to go into more detail in the other projects. SO excited!!!! Can't wait to join you. ❤

I'm excited for this! I saw your last Save The Cat video series with Brittany long after it was over and was sad I missed out. I actually bought my own copy of Save the Cat! Writes a YA Novel and I've started reading it. It makes the last one much clearer and I'm so excited to get started!

Yay! This sounds like a fun project and can wait to see it unfold. Also, i’m here for the new beginnings, plus fantasy romance is my main genre of reading and writing! I would say, if I see a comp title of acotar I would 💯 expect some spice in the book, and would be peeved if there’s none. Her other series which has fae, feels more YA and might not bring disgruntled readers 😊

This is a fun idea! I'm here for a Love Triangle! I am sure you would do a well written one. I would love to be there during the lives but I don't think I could - I am also not sure if the time zones line up. We are so busy on weekends and I have a young son. But I look forward to the replays.

Hey, I have an idea for my own cozy fantasy but I'm not sure if the idea holds up or would even work or if different from similar ideas. I was heavily inspired by this outlining series and need some advice.

I’m excited for the Friends part because I watched that whole series. I relate most to Phoebe, but there are times when I can be like a mix of Rachel and Monica depending on the situation.😅

I'm excited for this. I think this will be fun! 😊 I like the inspiration from friends more but the area I read is always fantasy. Recently I've been jumping around young adult, middle grade, and I'll add adult soon to reading to see the difference in how fantasy stories are told to different age groups. I typically read in young adult but I'm now branching out and exploring new options. ❤

This is such a fun idea. I missed it when you did it in 2020 with Brittany, so I might go back and watch those videos. I keep changing my mind about which I'm more excited about, Friends or ACOTAR, they're both among my faves, so lets just say BOTH. I actually had a *slightly* similar idea that I started writing notes on (like not even a full page), but then I did my HB90 planning and realized it's in my danger zone because it didn't fit with the kind of books I'm writing. I love reading cozy and romantasy, but I'm more of a dark and twisty UF writer. It was hard to step away from the idea, but it was the right decision. My whole point is, it's going to be so much fun to go through this process with you and I can't wait to buy the book when it's finished!

For me it’s so random if I plot or not and if I plot I might still just throw the outline away and pants the rest. Mostly still 3 act story structure’s hook, inciting incident, first pinch point, game-changing midpoint and disaster still be the same. I am still really excited to outline a book live even I don’t know will I really use the outline or not
That makes total sense, and is very normal for a pantser! I'm sort of in the middle of the two, so sometimes I find that it's almost more helpful to edit with the beats after writing a full draft!
I wrote a paranormal romance, and am currently writing a dark YA book
well, damn. This reminds me that I'm soon going to start on a new story (since I just finished my trilogy :O ) that's possible a series (7 or 8 books maybe. Here's a hint: similar to Harry Potter but without Hogwarts :) ) Congrats on your novel! I love Friends! Joey's my favorite so this sounds cool!

Does ANYONE out there know how to get amazon to print the cover of your book in a Matte finish texture??
Yes! When you go into KDP go to the section where it says your books content. It’s either that page or the following one. You will see an option for printing your book in glossy or matte. Select matte then be sure to hit the button that says publish your book at the bottom. It takes Amazon a few hours to update with the changes even though they say to give them 72 hours.

yeah, a lot of people were telling me i'm either brave or crazy for writing my books live LOL
But, between not having a solid schedule -- write when i can, work when i should -- it'd be hard for someone to catch all of it. Add in that i have country-side internet and it's not always the most reliable, the streams would just take an unscheduled nap for an unspecified amount of time, and i wouldn't notice until 1k words later when i happened to look over hahahaha
I also tend to write CHONKY stories, so stealing it is a feat in of itself, and having it up leaves a trail to show i'm the original writer anyway.
Oooh I love that you write your books live! If I wasn't so easily distracted, I think I would too, that's a super fun idea! One person's "crazy" is another person's "genius" right? ;)
genius might be a stretch term for me LOL I think I'm incredibly lucky to have someone now and again pop in and have an interest in what I'm doing, regardless of context or lack thereof (I'm socially awkward and can't market my way out of a paper bag). ^_^;;@@BethanyAtazadeh

Hello Bethany! Great video! Quite a bit off topic, but, how would you include characters using social media like characters making TikTok videos, or characters sending group texts to many other characters without listing out each character that sees them?
Great question, but I honestly don't think I've ever tried that so I'm not sure! Good luck trying things though, sounds fun!
