I've never been a Texans fan, but this game was really something. The crowd excitement on the first drive is amazing, and it really was great to see fans have such an amazing homecoming victory. Really reminded of all the reasons I love being an NFL fan

I went to the first preseason games in that stadium that year and it was amazing, the one against the Dolphins and then against Tampa, incredible atmosphere and feeling in that stadium back then at that time. This game is probably my single favorite game ever, I keep coming back to it and it just never gets old. The safety and the Carr to Bradford bomb still gives me goosebumps. Good times.

Texans will finally make their first Super Bowl appearance AND win their first ever Super Bowl in 2 years as long as nothing goes horribly wrong for the team or the league. GO TEXANS!!!! Plus this reminds me of ESPN NFL 2K5 and that game might be the best NFL video game ever.

I’m a Cowboys fan that grew up in Houston during the Y2K era but man. This game Reliant Stadium and the Texans Old uniforms are just so nostalgic. I hope these two Texas teams can create an actual rivalry and that the Texans go back to those inaugural season uniforms, they just look so I guess you could say a time capsule of what NFL uniforms use to look like during that era. Any ways I’m hopeful for my hapless Cowboys and I wish the Texans the best. Texas forever.

There was also some consideration for making the Titans the week 1 opponent for the Texans instead of the Cowboys, as the former Oilers returning to Houston was just as intriguing a storyline as an in-state battle.
The Titans would finally visit the Texans in primetime in 2009, and did so again in 2018, both of these games were also on ESPN, but on Monday rather than Sunday.

he had a horrible O-Line. the only good person they had on the line was Mckinney. that and dom capers was trash for the team. they started getting good players, Andre Johnson in the second year and Dominick Davis they had a decent 3 in a qb, rb, and wr. Coaching and O-Line caused them to stink up the league for years to come. I remember all these games and issues they had back in the day, still through it all that's my team.

If we still had cable, I would be watching NFL on ESPN every Sunday night esp. around the time I started to slowly getting into NFL football. But later on when I bought NFL 2K3, ESPN NFL Football and ESPN NFL 2K5 in 2010-2013, the presentation in the games making it feel like you're watching a NFL game on ESPN (except the games have fictional announcers instead of the real ones, probably due to money issues).

I remember living in Houston at the time and going to college, University of Houston. I was from Dallas (you can figure out what team I was going for) and living a few blocks away from the then Reliant Stadium and watching this game. Ah, those three 5-11 years under Dave Campo and then Emmitt Smith leaving to go to the Cardinals and saying he was a diamond in the rough in the finals couple of years in Dallas when he was the last of the triplets.
Felt bad for David Carr throughout his football years in Houston. He got sacked and thrown to the ground so many times. And it just seemed like Dom Campers wasn't willing to draft a good offensive line for Carr and kept on going after defensive guys. By the time Capers left and Kubiak came in, Carr was broken and was a shell of his former self.

Carr would get sacked 76 times after that.

I was at that game. I have been at games at Texas Stadium when Roger Staubach was playing, at UT Stadium against the Aggies, The Astrodome and Reliant Stadium. Never was it as loud like that Texans game. Great memories. I wish David Carr had better success here but with no running games and OL not protecting him, Brady, Peyton Manning etc would had been murdered with out the protection.

  • @bhinbayoucity5691

The Texans had a memorable first regular season game, but then went downhill after that. After a couple more seasons, Capers was fired, then later came Kubiak, took the Texans to a 1-15 season, was also fired, then Bill o Brian, who "f'd" up the franchise as coach/GM, who let Andre Johnson n DeAndre Hopkins go, then Brian was fired, then JJ Watt was given his release, now David Culley, and currently 2-11. It'll be 4 or 5 more seasons at least before this franchise becomes relevant again. My, how far they've come....I mean... fallen.
