      Thank you! In the video I flipped through the "standard" Cinema presets in Adobe Camera RAW, ultimately selecting CN09. 😎

    Hi, i just bought this camera thanks to your video but i don't know how to transfer photos from the camera to my computer. Any advice? 😅

    • @ccderik
      @ccderik  4 місяці тому +1

      I recommend getting a USB card reader that can read Compact Flash cards. Which type of USB depends on your computer's ports (USB-A or C). I'm using a Hama "35 in 1" which is very versatile, because it can basically read all types of old memory cards. 🙂

    Hi mine came with an generic battery pack but i already had the genuine canon charger it wont charge it thanks i wonder how can .

    • @ccderik
      @ccderik  Рік тому +2

      Mine didn't come with battery or charger but I bought a Canon NB-2L battery replacement from Patona and also a cheap charger (was marked "Canon NB2L" and replaces genuine chargers for Canon G7, S30, S40, S50 etc). Does the generic battery have any model nr? It still fits the charger? Google "canon NB-2L battery" and see what you can find (found a few here in Sweden), seems reasonable that it should work in the genuine Canon charger, but otherwise I recommend also picking up a charger. 🙂

    I still have my S50 but haven't used it for many years. I bought it new when they first came out. I was doing a photography course at TAFE and during the time of the course they switched from film to digital. I couldn't afford a digital SLR so this seemed the closest I could get, I was able to use RAW format and manual camera settings, both a requirement for the course. I loved it and for that time, I had excellent shots from it. My S50 is still in excellent condition but the batteries no longer charge, I'm hoping I'll still be able to buy a battery for it and bring it out of retirement.

    • @ccderik
      @ccderik  Рік тому +1

      Cool to hear your S50 story. These old digicams certainly evoke memories. I'm sure you had some good photo fun back in the day with it...as an underdog with the S50 going up against those big DSLRs. 😉Should not be hard to find a new battery; it deserves a comeback. 😁

    Oh, watching your video I remembered that my grandfather also had a similar camera. When I tried charging it, the light on the charger changed blue and red continuously. After 1 hour the problem still happened and I tried attaching it to the camera but it still didn't work. Have you encountered this situation? Please share with me

    • @ccderik
      @ccderik  3 місяці тому +1

      No, I haven't experienced anything similar. But it shouldn't be hard finding a replacement charger and/or battery for the S50 online, if you want to revive your grandfather's camera.

      @@zblsk Yeah that's true, it's clearly slimmed down and they dropped the viewfinder...a step towards the more current style of compact cameras as a whole. You know what? I have an S80 incoming...😁

      @ccderik  9 місяців тому

      Nice, the S70 with the "charcoal" color right? That's a great trio of Canons you have...I've reviewed the G6, it's really a jack-of-all trades camera, still shooting crisp images. 😎

  • @pdtech4524
    @pdtech4524 Рік тому +3

    Nice camera, a bit bulky and brick like.
    The photos make up for that.
    It's a shame it has the glitchy cover.
    I chose the Canon powershot A650is it's a much more compact camera, it features a 1/1.7" CCD 12.1mp sensor and has a flip out, fully articulating 2.5' LCD screen.
    It has the Digic III image processor and crucially uses 3 AA batteries rather than one of those proprietary Canon type batteries, so I just run it with standard rechargeables, much more convenient.
    Interestingly it can run CHDK firmware which adds additional features such as RAW file images
    Oh and it takes a standard size SD memory card.
    So far my tests with it have been very positive, I love the images and how it renders a scene.
    I paid just £19.99 for it but they seem to be going for crazy prices on ebay because of all the CCD hype.
    I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with a retro photographer 📸

      Was surprised to see it has as much as 12 mp (being from 2007). That's quite over the top retro-wise 😉, but such a bargain for £20! Seems like a full-fledged digicam. A note: It has the same type of design as the A80 which was the first digital camera I bought... decent grip but with a slimmer body than the G-series.

    • @pdtech4524
      @pdtech4524 Рік тому +1

      @@ccderik It was a premium flag ship model, I think it was a little ahead of it's time and cost well over £300 on it's release.
      My current fairly 'recent' Panasonic Lumix TZ70 is also a 12mp compact travel camera, you can still buy them new currently, this gives you some idea what 12mp and a much bigger sensor back then made this something special.
      It's nice having the retro CCD and big sensor combined with a decent resolution.
      There is also the A640 model with the same articulating LCD screen but only 10mp for that 'enhanced' retro reduction in resolution! 😊

    • @ccderik
      @ccderik  Рік тому +1

      @@pdtech4524 Yeah truly impressive specs for the type of camera at that time, considering the A-series was Canon's affordable Powershot-lineup. It seems that line varied a bit from low to high-end over the years...😁 The later models sized-down the sensor, so the 600s are the sweet spots indeed.

    These cameras are bricks. Built like a tank & heavy. Take very good pictures. Until Fuji blew everyone out of the water 2yrs later with the F10

    • @ccderik
      @ccderik  Рік тому

      Seems like build quality had less compromises then... and the heaviness makes it feel more pro 😉 Haven't tried the F10 but seen how people rave about it...I recently obtained the F11 but haven't had time to test it yet!

    • @frankartale1026
      @frankartale1026 Рік тому +1

      @@ccderik cool. Ill give you a hint. For the F11, iso 200 is amazing with flash indoors. Iso 200 is all you need for great exposure. The flash is very powerful on the 10/11. If you raise the iso it just lowers the flash output. Its still very good to 800 but i would print iso 200 8x10 and they are very sharp. The F40fd is the sleeper of the F line because its twice as sensetive. So iso 200 on the f40 will give the same s/s and exposure with the flash off as 400 on all the other F models. It also has a larger sensor.
