- Hel is a character in Norse mythology, known as the ruler of the realm of the dead. She presides over a realm called Helheim, where those who did not die in battle go after death. Hel is described as a half-dead, half-living being, with a gloomy and cold appearance. She is often depicted as a somber and mysterious figure, embodying the concept of death and the afterlife in Norse mythology

All I wanted! I'm from Brazil and I write fantasy and horror stories, your videos help me a lot to immerse myself in the ideas, thank you very much!

Hel or Hela, probably one of the most fascinating gods of the ancient world. Once there there was a germanic goddess called "Holla" or "Hulda". (Frau Holle in the fairytales by the brothers Grimm) Before the northmen told of Odin, she would be the one to lead the wild hunt during the time of the winter solstice. She was also seen as the great mother who would watch over the souls of the dead. So it makes sense she would become the ruler of the "underworld" later in norse mythology and medieval stories. Though I don't think of her as something scary since even the old germanic and norse folks didn't view death as something terrible, there is a dark and mysterious side to her and you captured that quite well. Good job! :-)
So glad you like it! Thank you!
I saw someone who traced variants of that myth and he included as an Americanized version of the Wild Hunt the song "Ghost Riders in the Sky".
Beautiful artwork on this thumbnail.
In Austria we call her Frau Perchta, leading the wild hunt of Perchten. . After hundreds of years we still carve masks of perchten to ward off these spirits and protect our villages during winter solstice. The perchtenlauf has been Christianized as the krampuslauf though
@@Hi.im.V Thanks for sharing that! I've heard of the Perchta traditions in Austria and it's fascinating to me that you guys still have those!
I really like the deep base and creepy gasps in this one. Very forboding. Great job, as always!

Ooo, i really liked this one!, is it possible to do a bigfoot one?, similar to how you did the wendigo with the roars in the distance?

How I love a good Norse story, you always do amazing work❤ Thank you for creating this masterpiece
Incredibly kind! Thank you so much!
The beautiful similarity in both mythology and religion at times, deities with similar purposes or sense of self is hard to really be matched. You've done a wonderful job in depicting almost how one would seeing Styx for the first time, a vast darkness, but inviting
Wow, thank you for the kind words!
Amazing as always, I really like the ominous vocals and tension whispers. And the pulsing strings going in and out. Is your music on Spotify?
Not yet. Thanks for your kind words!
I'm a travel photographer and I often use your music to help me focus when editing my images. I'm currently on a photo roadtrip in Scandinavia, so the theme of this ambient is perfect timing !

Hel hath no fury like a woman's wrath.
For she is undead and as cold as the winter's night.
Her silence is all.
